Lawyers for Breonna Taylor allege in court records that she was targeted in a police operation to gentrify a neighborhood in western Louisville. Taylor was shot and killed back in March by Louisville Metro Police officers when police conducted a “no-knock raid” on her home. Taylor's ex-boyfriend Jamarcus Cordell Glover was renting a home on the street and it created a "roadblock" for the project, court documents stated."The police unit's efforts to clean house on Elliott became so outrageous, unlawful, corrupt, and reckless that a bogus, no-knock search warrant was obtained for the home of Breonna Taylor, a woman with no criminal history, no drugs in her home, no targets in her home, and whose home was more than 10 miles from Elliott Avenue," lawyers stated in the court documents.Lawyer's Ben Crump and his co-counselors Sam Aguiar and Lonita Baker issued a statement about the refiling.“Connecting the dots, it’s clear that these officers should never have been at Breonna Taylor’s home in the first place, and that they invaded the residence with no probable cause," they said in a joint press release. "The officers who robbed Breonna of her life -- and Tamika Palmer of her daughter -- exhibited outrageous, reckless, willful, wanton, and unlawful conduct. As a consequence, the city lost one of its most precious essential frontline workers, who risked her life daily to save her fellow residents in a pandemic. LA JOLLA, Calif. (KGTV) - New research at UC San Diego has found that breast milk does not spread the Coronavirus."I think it's safe to say that breast milk is safe, that donor milk is safe, and that the benefits of breastfeeding outweigh the risks," says Dr. Lars Bode, the Director of the UC San Diego Mommy’s Milk Human Milk Research Biorepository, which conducted the study. "We don't have any risks identified at this point."A preliminary research letter, published in August in the Journal of the American Medical Association, found "No replication-competent virus was detectable in any sample."The study analyzed multiple breast milk samples from women who had recently given birth and been infected with SARS-COVID-2, the disease that causes coronavirus. Among 64 samples from 18 different women, they found nothing that could transmit the virus.READ THE REPORTThe Center now has around 400 women enrolled in the study to ensure the results play out over extensive scale testing."Having the information and knowing what the risks are and what you might expect and being prepared for that, it certainly can help reduce anxieties related to having these types of infections," says Dr. Christina Chambers, a pediatrician at UC San Diego.In addition to looking for virus transmission, the researchers are also looking into whether breast milk can transfer antibodies from mother to baby and help the child gain immunity without a vaccine."When mom gets infected, she produces the antibodies," says Dr. Bode. "It's not just in her plasma. It also gets handed over to the milk, and we've seen this for many other diseases as well. LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A La Mesa woman is recovering after she says she was attacked during the protest on Saturday night. Eleyna Bedolla said she was not protesting and she is not sure if the man that attacked her was a protester. Bedolla told 10News she heard commotion in her neighborhood so she went for a walk to check out what was happening. When she noticed the demonstration, she said she started to make her way back home along Palm Avenue. That's when a man approached her with a baseball bat and asked her, "Who the hell do you think you are?"Bedolla said she told the man she was trying to get home, but she said he grabbed her and threw her into the street, hitting her with a bat in the leg. He also tried to hit her head, but Bedolla said she was able to protect herself with her hand. She suffered a broken hand and large bruising on her legs. According to Bedolla, La Mesa police were nearby and officers were able to arrest the man. She wants others to be careful when deciding to go out and protest. 10News reached out to the La Mesa Police Department to ask about the arrest, but so far have not heard back. 1139

According to USA Today, several Facebook posts have gone viral in recent days that claim the fires were started in connection with ongoing civil unrest in Portland.One of those posts included a screenshot of what appeared to be a status update by the Medford Police Department. LAKEWOOD, Ohio - Lizzie Ackerman loves to read."We found that it's really valuable and rewarding to learn about people that are different than us,” said Ackerman.When Ackerman thought about how she would get involved with the Black Lives Matter Movement, she knew just what to do."Sharing books about people who are different than we felt like a really good way to educate ourselves and our community just about the world around us,” she said.This Lakewood resident is starting her very own little free diverse library.It will work similarly to all the little free libraries we’ve seen across Northeast Ohio, except this one will only carry books from Black authors, feature Black people or educate folks on how to be anti-racist.
