A missing toddler who went missing in Kentucky was found unharmed and in good condition on Wednesday after being separated from his family for three days. Kenneth Howard, 22 months, was found alive in the area of a strip mine in Floyd County, the Magoffin County Sheriff's Office confirmed. The child was taken to a hospital for an examination. According to Prestonsburg Fire Department Chief Michael Brown, a firefighter heard cries from the child, which helped lead rescuers to Kenneth. "We all got quiet and started calling the child’s name, and at different times, sporadically, he would give us a cry and we had to try to pinpoint his location," Brown told ABC News on Thursday. "We got three or four cries from him, and two of the guys made their way back up the hill and he was sitting up at top of a little flat there."The child was reportedly playing with his father in their yard. The father reportedly turned his back to the child when Kenneth disappeared. Authorities said that they have no evidence of any criminal activity at this time. 1063

Abortion services can continue for now in Missouri after a judge ruled against the state, which had refused to renew Planned Parenthood's license to continue providing the procedure. The matter will be heard in court again on June 4.If the clinic had to stop providing abortion services, Missouri would have been the first state in the nation to block the procedure in more than 45 years.A lawsuit against the state was filed earlier this week by Reproductive Health Services of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region, which has provided abortions for more than two decades and is the last remaining clinic to do so in Missouri. Its license to continue offering abortions was set to expire Friday, and the organization argued that withholding the license amounted to another tactic in a years-long effort to "restrict abortion access and deny Missourians their right to choose abortion."The lawsuit was brought against Missouri Gov. Michael Parson and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, which administers the license the clinic needed. It sought a temporary restraining order against the state, in order to avoid the disruption of services."This is not a drill. This is not a warning. This is a real public health crisis," Dr. Leana Wen, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said Tuesday in 1353

An American was possibly exposed to Ebola while recently providing medical assistance in Congo, according to a release from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Public Health. The person, who has not been identified, is headed to the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha for monitoring, the release states, adding the Nebraska Medical Center is home to one of the nation's few dedicated biocontainment units."This person may have been exposed to the virus but is not ill and is not contagious," said Ted Cieslak, infectious diseases specialist with Nebraska Medicine and associate professor of epidemiology in the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Public Health. "Should any symptoms develop, the Nebraska Medicine/UNMC team is among the most qualified in the world to deal with them."The Democratic Republic of Congo is going through one of the deadliest Ebola outbreaks in history. The outbreak began August 1 and has left more than 300 people dead, with 545 confirmed cases recorded as of Saturday, according to the country's health ministry. Another 48 cases are considered probable. The World Health Organization said protests in Congo over election delays and a deteriorating security situation are interfering with their field teams' ability to carry out Ebola vaccinations in some areas. The American, the Nebraska release states, is not an official patient and is being taken privately to the medical center. Federal, state and county public health officials plan to monitor the person in a secure area not accessible by the public or any patients. Monitoring could take as long as two weeks, the release states. No updates will be given on the person's status during the monitoring period unless needed, the release also states. If it is necessary, though, the individual will be transferred to the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit, where regular updates will be provided. This isn't the first time possible Ebola patients were treated at the Nebraska Medical Center. Nebraska Medicine treated three patients with Ebola in 2014. In 2015, five Americans were monitored at the center after being exposed to the virus in West Africa, but none developed the disease. 2234
