BEIJING, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- China and Mekong countries have in recent years pushed forward Lancang-Mekong water resources cooperation despite external noise and interference, and made substantial progress, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Monday.

"As long as we practice our people-centered development philosophy, have the courage to make up our minds and tackle difficulties head-on, we will be able to accomplish many big things," said Yu Hongsheng, mayor of Sanming.

"It shows that the Asian country doesn't only consider its internal situation ... but also cares for the people of the whole world," he said.

B.R. Deepak, a professor and sinologist at Jawaharlal Nehru University in India, described Xi's speech at the summit as "constructive," for it not merely proposed approaches to deal with the twin challenges of the pandemic and economic recession, but also "outlined China's thinking on the post pandemic international order and underscored the role of the G20 in reshaping it."

It also called for further steps in boosting the consumption of catering services in the country's urban areas.
