SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) — A man was arrested after deputies say he fled the scene of a San Marcos crash and was stopped by passersby from leaving a second crash scene.San Diego Sheriff's deputies received a report of a beige Mercedes-Benz traveling at an unsafe speed on northbound Bennett Ave. before is ran off the road and collided with a concrete wall and then a residence at 600 Bennett Ave.The driver, a 26-year-old man, tried to flee the area, but was detained by passerbys until deputies arrived.While deputies were responding to that incident, SDSO says they received another call about a black, male suspect wearing camouflage clothing who had used a hatchet to smash the window of a vehicle at a Stater Brothers Grocery store at 1330 East Mission Rd. The man reportedly fled in a vehicle matching the description of the Mercedes-Benz and struck a gray Audi in the area of Knob Hill Rd., SDSO said. The driver of the Audi, a 61-year-old woman, was not injured. At the scene of the Bennett Ave. crash, paramedic treated the suspect at the scene and he was released. Based on evidence and interviews, deputies determined that the suspect was under the influence of prescription medication and heavily intoxicated at the time of the collision. The man was later arrested for driving under the influence, vandalism, and leaving the scene of an accident.SDSO's traffic division is investigating the crime. 1420

SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV) - It’s been two days since 29 year old Frank Stricker drove his truck into a crowd of street vendors near the border in Mexico. Court records from Utah show Stricker should have never been behind the wheel in the first place because he has a suspended license. The court records show Stricker has been arrested six times since 2008 in Utah and has 47 criminal charges, all mostly drug related. RELATED: 'We were fleeing for our lives.' Police say he also had drug paraphernalia in the vehicle when they pulled him over. Mexican authorities tell 10News Stricker is facing charges of attempted homicide and property damages. They expect him to be arraigned Thursday in Mexican court. In the crash Monday afternoon, Stricker hit 17 vehicles, 12 vendor carts and injured three people. SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Students at California Polytechnic State University are demanding action after a social media post showed a fraternity member in blackface.  The outrage came after a photo surfaced showing members of the fraternity throwing gang signs while dressed as gangster stereotypes, according to The Tribune.A photo later surfaced showing a fraternity member in blackface. The Instagram account that posted the photo has since been deleted.Late Monday afternoon, the dean of students announced that the fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha, had been placed on interim suspension.The fraternity said in a statement to the school's newspaper that it is sorry "for failing to recognize the racial impacts this brought forth." 750
