IRVING, Texas – In a letter sent to scouting families Monday, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) announced its support of the Black Lives Matter movement.The BSA’s National Executive Committee pointed out that the organization wasn’t living up to one of the 12 points of The Scout Law – bravery.“Brave means taking action because it is the right thing to do and being an upstander even when it may prompt criticism from some,” wrote the committee. “We realize we have not been as brave as we should have been because, as Scouts, we must always stand for what is right and take action when the situation demands it.”The BSA went on to say that there is no place for racism in scouting or in its communities, and it won’t be tolerated.“We condemn the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and all those who are not named but are equally important. We hear the anguish, feel the heartbreak, and join the country’s resolve to do better,” the committee wrote.The organization also said it would be introducing a specific diversity and inclusion merit badge that will be required to become an Eagle Scout.“It will build on components within existing merit badges, including the American Cultures and Citizenship in the Community merit badges, which require Scouts to learn about and engage with other groups and cultures to increase understanding and spur positive action,” wrote the committee.Additionally, the BSA is also committing to reviewing every element of its programs to ensure diversity and inclusion are ingrained at every level for participants and volunteers by applying a standard that promotes racial equality and denounces racism, discrimination, inequality and injustice.It’s requiring diversity and inclusion training for all BSA employees starting July 1 and taking action toward introducing a version for volunteersAnd lastly, the organization is conducting a review of property names, events and insignia to build on and enhance the organization’s nearly 30-year ban on use of the Confederate flag and to ensure that symbols of oppression are not in use today or in the future. 2115

INDIANAPOLIS — The Marion County Coroner will be releasing the autopsy results to the family of Dreasjon Reed on the same day the family was planning a press conference to demand its release.The 21-year-old man was shot and killed by an IMPD officer following a pursuit on May 6.The Reed family lawyers had requested a copy of the autopsy report, which the Marion County Coroner's Office says was completed on June 12 and then sent to the special prosecutor, but were initially denied their request after the special prosecutor asked that the report not be released.The Reed family had scheduled a press conference for 11 a.m. on Aug. 5 outside the Marion County Coroner's Office to demand the report be released.The Marion County Coroner issued a statement just after 10 a.m. saying they had received a decision from the Marion Superior Court that morning authorizing the release of the autopsy report to Reed's mother, Demetree Wynn.After receiving the report from the coroner's office, Wynn still addressed the media gathered at the coroner's office."You can not do what you did to my son and tell me it was right," Wynn said. "I've been a nurse for 20 years and I'm not stupid. Don't insult my intelligence by assuming I don't know how to read. I know what it says. And if it was your child, I promise you, you couldn't stand here.""I can't breathe, my heart hurts. But I'm still standing here and there ain't no way in hell you can do that to somebody else's kid and be okay with it," Wynn said. "If you're okay with it, let me do it to your son and I'm gonna show you how it feels. I promise you that."The Special Prosecutor overseeing the case, Rosemary Khoury, released the following statement following the release of the report."The Marion County Superior Court has ruled to allow the release of the autopsy report by the Marion County Coroner to the family of Dreasjon Reed. We fully anticipate that the family attorney will adhere to the confidentiality requirements set forth by the Indiana Code which prohibits the release of certain information contained in the report. The State has petitioned the Court to allow for the investigation to be completed before releasing the report so that a thorough and complete investigation could be conducted. The investigation is still ongoing and the team respects and will adhere to the Court's decision as it works to provide as comprehensive an investigation as possible."Khoury was appointed as the special prosecutor on June 4. On July 2, the court ordered IMPD and the Marion County lab to turn over all evidence to Indiana State Police. It's a frightening case of road rage that happened in broad daylight and spanned several communities.Now Police in Allen Park, Michigan are asking for the public's help in finding the man who was driving a black Nissan Altima with a damaged fender and out of state plates on the front and back of the vehicle. Detective Jim Thorburn with the Allen Park Police Department said the man chased another driver several miles and then unleashed at least eight rounds of gunfire at another driver in broad daylight on the southbound Southfield Fwy ramp to I-94. It all started with a fender bender around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday in Detroit, in the area of Chicago near Greenfield. The driver of a pick up truck tried to exchange information, he told police, when the black Nissan Altima driver pulled out a gun. That when he ran. "He was being chased by a Nissan Ultima and he had a big pick up truck and he thought by cutting through fields and stuff he would lose the Ultima," Thorburn said.But that didn't happen. The victim hopped on the Southfield Freeway southbound driving to the I-94 ramp, where the suspect who was still chasing him, opened fire. The victim was hit in the backside but was able to keep driving, he finally lost the shooter, pulled over in Taylor and called police. Police photos show the side of the pick up truck riddled with bullet holes. A big bullet hole in the head rest was a sign that the suspect was likely shooting to kill. The victim escaped with a superficial bullet wound to the backside. Today he said he is in pain, but recovering.  Police are hoping to find someone who might have seen the male suspect fire eight to nine gun shots through the passenger window of his black Nissan Ultima in broad daylight on the busy freeway.
