New information has been released in the FBI and White Lake Township police investigation into the murder of professional poker player Susie Zhao. Police were called to find her burned body on July 13 at 8:05 a.m. in the secluded Pontiac Lake Park in Oakland County.RELATED: Man accused in poker player's brutal death had lengthy criminal historyAccording to court documents obtained by 7 Action News: She was identified by fingerprints. She was bound with zip-ties, and sexually assaulted with a large object before being "lit on fire until she died.”Cell phone records show she met with Jeffery Morris the evening before. After Morris was arrested, he told police he picked up Zhao on Watkins Lake Road and they both checked into the Sherwood Motel at around 9:26 p.m.Morris told police they left the motel to buy some alcohol at a party store and returned to the motel.Morris said Zhao left the motel at midnight “and took all of her belongings including her cell phone with her.”According to the court documents, cell phone records indicate that Zhao’s cell phones did not leave until around 5 a.m. And surveillance footage near the motel and phone records show Morris left at that time and drove to the secluded park. Other evidence shows he was there about seven minutes.Days later, the police and FBI would locate Morris and his vehicle in Ypsilanti. A search found several footwear impressions, several hairs, fibers and other items with possible blood stains.Investigators also found duffle bags with Morris’ identification, a fitted bed sheet with apparent blood stains as well as a wooden baseball bat with a possible big blood stain. Those are being tested at the Oakland County Crime Lab.Police said last week the motive for the murder and the reason Morris and Zhao met are still under investigation.Early speculation was "Susie Q," as she’s known in the poker circuit, may have been killed in connection with being a professional player living in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. But now the evidence shows this was home grown deadly trouble that she faced when she met up with Morris, a convicted sex offender. She came home from the high stakes, poker world in June. 2184

NEW YORK — New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio grabbed a roller Thursday and helped paint the words "Black Lives Matter" front of the namesake Manhattan tower of President Donald Trump.De Blasio was flanked by his wife, Chirlane McCray, and the Rev. Al Sharpton as he helped paint the racial justice rallying cry in giant yellow letters on Fifth Avenue in front of Trump Tower."We are liberating Fifth Avenue," de Blasio said. "We are uplifting Fifth Avenue."The NYC Department of Transportation closed off the avenue between 56th and 57th streets around 7 a.m. Thursday in preparation for the painting. The DOT said the block would remain closed to automobile traffic until Sunday, however, the bus lane will be operational sooner. The mural was originally set to be painted on July 2, but was postponed due to "logistics," de Blasio said at the time. Mayor de Blasio just arrived with @TheRevAl and @NYCFirstLady. Responding to President Trump’s remarks last week where he said #BLM mural will denigrate 5th Ave. Mayor said they are here to “liberate” it @PIX11News pic.twitter.com/Gfym3sTEqO— Andrew Ramos (@AndrewRamosTV) July 9, 2020 #BLM MIDTOWN MURAL: @NYC_DOT stenciling begins outside Trump Tower. @PIX11News @realDonaldTrump pic.twitter.com/WkOIH0fx2C— Anthony DiLorenzo (@ADiLorenzoTV) July 9, 2020 De Blasio first announced the mural in late June, saying it would be painted by Trump Tower on the famed avenue, that specific location selected for a reason."Painting 'Black Lives Matter; outside his home is a message to him that in fact black lives do matter, that black people built New York City and they've never been compensated for all they did," the mayor said.Dozens of cities across the country have painted similar murals on city streets, following in the footsteps of Washington, D.C.President Donald Trump has slammed the planned mural, calling it a "symbol of hate" in a series of tweets earlier in July.Trump claimed the mural would be "denigrating this luxury Avenue" and "will further antagonize New York's Finest."De Blasio fired back on Twitter saying, "Black people BUILT 5th Ave and so much of this nation. Your 'luxury' came from THEIR labor, for which they. have never been justly compensated.""We are honoring them. The fact that you see it as denigrating your street is the definition of racism," his tweets read. This story was originally published by Mark Sundstrom, Anthony DiLorenzo, Andrew Ramos on WPIX in New York. 2476

NFL fans will see history made this season, and it has nothing to do with what goes on between the goalposts. The Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints will have male cheerleaders dancing on their squads for the first time.Dancers Quinton Peron and Napoleon Jinnies have been preparing for the NFL season since they made the Rams cheerleading squad in March."Still can't believe I'm one of the first males in history to be a pro NFL cheerleader!" Jinnies tweeted after being selected. 497

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks fell sharply on Wall Street Thursday as high-flying technology companies took a tumble after months of spectacular gains. The benchmark S&P 500 lost 3.5%, its biggest loss since June, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq fell 5%. Both indexes set record highs a day earlier. Apple, the most valuable U.S. company, slumped 8%. Big Tech companies have made outsize gains this year as investors bet that they would continue posting huge profits, even with many coronavirus restrictions still in place, as people spend more time online with their devices. Some worry those tech companies will be hit hard in a souring US-China relationship and any future tariffs, according to CNN. Treasury yields fell as cautious investors shifted money into bonds. 770

None of the countries that make up the G20 group of major world economies is on course to adequately reduce climate change, with 82% of the bloc's energy supply still coming from fossil fuels, a new report has warned.Of the countries, only India has set targets that would keep global temperature rise below 2 degrees Celsius, the upper limit recommended by the Paris Climate Agreement, if adopted globally.Overall, the world is heading for a 3.2-degree rise, the organization Climate Transparency said, in an analysis of the G20's current emissions-cutting targets for 2030 published Wednesday.Targets set by the worst offenders -- Russia, Saudi Arabia and Turkey -- would lead to a rise of more than 4 degrees if they were adopted worldwide, the report added. The G20 comprises representatives from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the European Union, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The landmark Paris Agreement, drafted in 2015, resulted in an aim to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees compared to pre-industrial levels, with 2 degrees set as an upper limit. But the report cautions that those targets are virtually impossible to reach at current rates. It follows similar warnings made last month by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which found that the earth will reach the crucial 1.5 degree threshold as early as 2030."The G20 economies actually need to cut their emissions by half by 2030 to keep warming below 1.5°C," said Jan Burck, senior adviser at equality NGO Germanwatch, one of the report's authors. Germanwatch is one of 14 partners that make up Climate Transparency."But instead of responding to the urgency of climate change, the G20 countries continue to pour money into factors that drive climate disruption, like fossil fuel subsidies, instead of taking stronger action," he added.G20 countries account for around 80% of the world's global greenhouse gas emissions, according to the World Resources Institute.  2104
