LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Cereal lovers may want to take a good look at the expiration dates on their groceries after this story.A Lakewood, Colorado family bought a box of Quaker 100% Natural Granola cereal from a Littleton Walmart on Monday. It was the Quaker cereal with oats, honey and raisins.It wasn’t until the Carelse’s sat down for a serving that any of them realized something was terribly wrong.“It looks like February 22, 1997,” Anthea Carelse said, pointing to the box’s printed “best by” date. LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Authorities are looking for help identifying a man they say pointed a finger at a 7-Eleven clerk and demanded cash early Wednesday before leaving empty handed.It happened around 2 a.m. at the store located on Bonita Beach Road near Imperial Shores Boulevard.According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, the man walked into the store with a red shirt covering his face, and approached the clerk with a pointed finger.  The man demanded all the cash from the register, but the clerk refused and the man left the store.He was seen riding a white bicycle north on Imperial Shores Boulevard.The man is described as being in his early 20s, approximately 5 foot 8 inches and weighing 165 pounds.  748

Less than a year after the Boy Scouts of America decided to invite girls to join, the organization announced that it will refer to its older youth program as "Scouts BSA" starting in February 2019.The name change comes amid a new campaign slogan, "Scout Me In," that was made to emphasize the group's expansion from just boys to boys and girls."Cub Scouts is a lot of fun, and now it's available to all kids," Stephen Medlicott, National Marketing Group Director of Boy Scouts of America, said in a statement. "That's why we love 'Scout Me In' -- because it speaks to girls and boys and tells them, 'This is for you. We want you to join!'"The name change only applies to the program currently called Boy Scouts, which is available for teens ages 11-17. The Cub Scouts program, for children ages 5-10, will not undergo a name change. The name of the organization will remain Boy Scouts of America.The decision to open the scouting program to girls last October was both a reflection of growing progressive attitudes as well as a business decision. The Boy Scouts of America has seen declining numbers for years. The organization says it has nearly 2.3 million youth members between 5 and 21, a decrease from the 2.8 million members in 2012.In its statements, the Boy Scouts of America said more than 3,000 girls have joined the Early Adopter Program and are participating in Cub Scouts ahead of the full launch later this year.  1440

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (KGTV) — A Riverside County man who tested positive for COVID-19 after attending a party warned others considering gatherings the day before he died.Thomas Macias attended a barbecue in June in Lake Elsinore, where he was exposed to another person who later said they knowingly had coronavirus but never told anyone, according to Los Angeles ABC-affiliate KABC.Shortly after the party, Macias started feeling sick and posted a warning to others on Facebook, his family told CNN."I went out a couple of weeks ago ... because of my stupidity I put my mom and sisters and my family's health in jeopardy," Macias wrote. "This has been a very painful experience. This is no joke. If you have to go out, wear a mask, and practice social distancing. ... Hopefully with God's help, I'll be able to survive this."Macias died the day after posting the warning. The 51-year-old suffered from diabetes, one of the underlying conditions health experts warn make some individuals especially vulnerable to COVID-19.A friend who was also at the party notified Macias that he had coronavirus and he was aware of the positive diagnosis when he attended the gathering. The friend thought he couldn't infect anyone because he had no symptoms, a family member told CNN.It wasn't clear if anyone was social distancing or wearing facial coverings at the party. About a dozen people who were at the party also tested positive, CNN reported.Macias was tested for COVID-19 on June 15, was told he tested positive on June 18, and died on June 21, KABC reports. 1563
