A group of Greyhound passengers were not pleased after their bus left three and a half hours late and then took an unexpected detour on Thursday morning.Passengers said their bus was supposed to leave at 2:30 a.m., but it didn't actually pull away from the bus station until 6 a.m. To make matters worse, once the bus got into Pennsylvania, passengers said it turned around because the driver said there were problems with the bus.But wait, there's more.The bus reportedly missed Cleveland and went all the way to Toledo before the driver realized the error. Toledo is roughly two hours west of Cleveland. Now riders are looking for alternative ways to get to their destinations. One booked a flight and another caught a new bus.Passengers said Greyhound has not been cooperative through this ordeal and hasn't offered them refunds. 860

A joint statement released by federal and state officials on Thursday described last week’s presidential election as the “most secure in American history” despite calls from President Donald Trump’s campaign that the election was “stolen.”The letter was signed by leaders of the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission and the National Association of State Election Directors, among others. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency was established two years ago as a branch of Homeland Security during the Trump administration.In bold, the authors of the statement wrote, “There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.” This statement matches those from secretaries of state and boards of election throughout the US.“The November 3rd election was the most secure in American history,” the statement reads. “Right now, across the country, election officials are reviewing and double checking the entire election process prior to finalizing the result.”The group says that claims of election fraud are “unfounded.”“While we know there are many unfounded claims and opportunities for misinformation about the process of our elections, we can assure you we have the utmost confidence in the security and integrity of our elections, and you should too,” the statement read. “When you have questions, turn to elections officials as trusted voices as they administer elections.”Earlier this week, CNN among other outlets, reported that the Department of Justice, under Attorney General Bill Barr’s direction, was launching an investigation into voting irregularities. A Canadian judge who wore a "Make America Great Again" baseball cap in his courtroom has been suspended for 30 days without pay.A panel investigated complaints made about Ontario Justice Bernd Zabel stemming from an incident in November of 2016. The panel found that the judge wore the baseball cap into his courtroom, made comments about the U.S. presidential election, and also commented on his political views, as well as those of other judges. The panel also found that when the judge gave a public statement about that day in court, his comments were not consistent with what had happened.The panel hearing was held August 23, and the panel received 81 letters of complaint. Panel members also reviewed a number of other items, including an Agreed Statement of Facts, in which Judge Zabel admitted he "engaged in judicial misconduct." On September 11, 2017, the panel determined there was judicial misconduct, and suspended the judge for 30 days without pay. It's the most serious sanction permitted by law short of removing the judge from office.  1091

The press release from CAL FIRE reads, “Those responsible for starting fires due to negligence or illegal activity can be held financially and criminally responsible.”A spokesman for California’s Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, also known as CAL FIRE, told The Daily Mail the family whose device started the El Dorado Fire could be liable for the entire bill for the destruction.The couple was reportedly still at the park where the fire started when firefighters arrived.“We know how it started because they were still there,” Bennet Milloy with CAL FIRE told The Daily Mail. “That, and the fact that there were surveillance cameras in the park.”Milloy says they could face a variety of criminal charges, which could increase if homes and buildings are destroyed.
