(KGTV) - A Jamul family is mourning the loss from COVID-19 of a former little league coach and employee at Taylor Guitars.Greg Denny came down with a sinus headache in the second week of June. A trip to the ER revealed double pneumonia. Then came a positive COVID-19 test and fever, before his wife Kim brought him back to the hospital.“Five days of fever, hadn't been able to break it. He was at 102°,” said Kim Denny.A week after Greg was admitted, he was placed on a ventilator.“It was very emotional, like a roller coaster. Good one day and then things changed that same day,” she said.Eventually, the bad days took over. His kidneys failed. So did his pancreas. Then he got a blood infection. Last Friday, Greg — an Army veteran, father of two and grandfather of four — passed away at the age of 48.“He was my soulmate, my best friend and now he's my guardian angel,” she said.Kim calls her husband a wonderful dad and grandfather.“He’s the best man I’ve ever known,” said Dillon Wulff, Greg’s adult son.For the last five years, Greg has worked in security at Taylor Guitars. For more than two decades, he has coached or volunteered for little league games in Spring Valley.In her time of grief, Kim takes comfort in the daily game they played called, "I love you more."“Whoever said it first would win. So constantly, he'd get up and say, ‘I love you more.’ I'd get up and say, ‘I love you more,’" said Kim.They would play that game until the day he went on the ventilator.As for where the origin of the COVID-19, she has no idea. He always wore masks.“My husband was very safe … So, it’s scary. People need to take every precaution that they can,” said Kim.Greg did have an underlying condition: high blood pressure. Jeffrey Sandusky, the son of convicted sex abuser and former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky, pleaded guilty Friday to all 14 counts of child sexual abuse against him.The Centre Country district attorney's office said the younger Sandusky, 41, entered the guilty pleas a week before his trial was scheduled to begin.The 14 counts included soliciting sex from a child younger than 16 and soliciting child pornography.According to the district attorney's office, Sandusky will become a Tier III sex offender, the highest level in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania."The charges involve incidents with two girls, one in 2013 and one in 2016.The crimes were uncovered late last year when a girl told her father that Sandusky had texted her repeatedly, asking her to send him naked photos.The father contacted the police, and during the investigation, police discovered another girl, known as victim No. 2, who said Sandusky had asked her to engage in oral sex with him years before.Both victims say Sandusky tried to use different excuses to try to get them to participate, saying at one point that he "had studied medicine" and another time that he believed that Victim No. 1 had shared a nude photo with her boyfriend, and he wanted to see it."This outcome also ensures the victims need not suffer the trauma and re-victimization of testifying at trial and importantly, the defendant will have to comply with strict sex offender registration requirements for the remainder of his life," District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller said.According to the district attorney's office, the terms of Sandusky's plea guarantee that he will serve 3 to 6 years in state incarceration "but allows the judge to impose as much as 4 to 8 years of state prison in her discretion at the time of sentencing."Tier III offenders must register with the state police for life and verify their registration information in person four times a year," according to the Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment Board.Sandusky's defense attorney could not be reached for comment.The-CNN-Wire 2071

KILLEEN, Texas -- The U.S. Army and law enforcement in Texas are asking for the public's help in locating another missing Fort Hood soldier.Family members say they have not heard from Sgt. Elder Fernandes, 23, since Monday, August 17."I don't know where he is at right now. I don't know what he's feeling, I don't know if he's hurt. I don't know what's going on. I just know he's a good kid. He would never disappear and not tell his family where he is at," said Ailina Fernandes, the soldier's mother.The soldier was reported missing on Wednesday, August 19. He was last seen by his staff sergeant Monday afternoon when he dropped him off at his residence located in the 2700 block of Woodlands Drive in Killeen.Fort Hood released a statement late Friday."We can confirm that there is an open investigation of abusive sexual contact involving Sgt. Fernandes," the statement read. "The chain of command takes all allegations of sexual harassment and assault seriously. The unit sexual assault response coordinator has been working closely with Sgt. Fernandes, ensuring he was aware of all his reporting, care, and victim advocacy options. The unit also facilitated his transfer from a unit who has recently deployed to a different unit within the brigade to ensure he received the proper care and ensure there were no opportunities for reprisals. We will provide updates as we are able once CID completes their investigation."The soldier is African American, 5 feet, 5 inches tall and 133 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. LA JOLLA (CNS) - The city of San Diego will close Children's Pool beach Saturday in preparation of harbor seal pupping season, city officials announced Friday.The city began closing the beach in 2014, spurred by environmental activists concerned that beachgoers were disturbing the young pinnipeds. The city has been tied up in litigation for most of the time since then, dealing with suits from a group called Friends of the Children's Pool and other beach access advocates who claimed the closures violated the state Coastal Act and the federal Marine Mammal Protection Act.In June of this year, a state appeals court ruled in favor of the city, allowing the closures to continue.At the time, beach access advocates threatened to take the complaint to the state Supreme Court, but the matter hasn't moved that far yet.The city opened the beach in 1932 as a refuge for inexperienced swimmers due to a seawall that keeps out oncoming ocean waves. Harbor seals began convening on the beach in the 1990s and have since used the relatively calm beach area to birth and raise seal pups. California Coastal Commission officials have also suggested that the water is unsafe due to the seals and their excrement, offering another reason for residents to stay away from the beach for the next several months.The beach will be closed through May 15, 2019 to accommodate the seals and their pups. City park rangers and lifeguards will monitor the beach throughout the rest of winter and the duration of spring to keep both members of the public and local wildlife safe. 1567
