Three people trapped in an inactive West Virginia mine for several days were rescued on Wednesday, state officials said.The three West Virginia residents were brought to the surface and transported to a local hospital for medical treatment, Samantha Smith, a spokesperson with the West Virginia Department of Commerce, told CNN late Wednesday.Kayla Williams, 25 of Artie; Erica Treadway, 31, of Pax and Cody Beverly, 21 of Dorothy, were alert, talking and walking without assistance, Raleigh County Sheriff Scott Van Meter said in an interview. He said the three had snacks and water with them."It's a miracle they were found alive," the sheriff said.Williams, Treadway and Beverly were among a group of four people who were reported missing Saturday after an abandoned ATV they were believed to be riding was found near the entrance of the Rock House Powellton mine in Clear Creek, according to a statement from West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice.One person, Eddie Williams, 43 of Artie, emerged late Monday, according to the West Virginia Office of Miners' Health, Safety and Training.He said the three people left trapped were alive and gave authorities details of their location, according to Justice's office.Rescue teams failed to find them Monday and Tuesday. Toys "R" Us is on its way out, but KB Toys is set to pop back up.Strategic Marks, a company that buys and revitalizes defunct brands, owns the KB name and plans to open 1,000 pop-up KB Toys stores for Black Friday and the holiday shopping season."My assumption is that there's about half a billion dollars worth of toys that have been produced for Toys "R" Us with no place to go," said Strategic Marks president Ellia Kassoff, in a phone interview with CNNMoney. "That's a big, big void that we're hoping to fill up."Toys "R" Us, which filed for bankruptcy last year, announced last week that it expects to close all of its 735 stores in the US. Those closures will put 31,000 people out of work and hurt toy manufacturers that depended on the national retailer for distribution.Kassoff said he's been in contact with Hasbro Inc. and Mattel, Inc. and up to 200 smaller toy suppliers who are looking for new brick and mortar retailers. He said he plans to take advantage of a glut of toy manufacturers that have inventory but no place to sell it.To get a quick retail footprint, Kassoff said he's working with companies that specialize in holiday and pop-up retail, like Spencer Spirit Holdings Inc., Go! Well, you'll want to clean off those cans before handing them out!Investigator reporter Jace Larson tested soda cans for bacteria, and what he found was pretty gross.The cans tested came from a variety of places, including grocery stores, convenience stores, vending machines and cans stored in a home. All but one of the cans tested had mold on it.The highest mold count was 600 colonies of mold. That can came from a grocery store.This type of exposure could make people with compromised immune systems or lung disease sick.To put that number of colonies into perspective-- a flooded home could have 2,000-plus colonies of mold, while a condemned home could have roughly levels around 36,000.However, microbiologist Helene Ver Eecke, with the Metropolitan State University of Denver, says the 600 colonies of mold isn’t really a cause for concern.“Regular microbial load that we are constantly dosing ourselves with everything that we touch with everything we breathe,” Ver Eecke says. “It's just part of being human.”One soda can did test for bacteria levels that would be slightly concerning. The can—purchased from a convenience store--had the highest levels, with 3,700 bacteria colonies on it.But compared to dry cereal mixes, which can have up to 100,000 bacteria colonies and deemed safe to consume by FDA standards, the colonies found on that can were significantly less."There was one sample that came from a convenience store that had a higher bacterial count than samples, which makes sense because they were probably stocked probably appropriate for people to wear gloves when stocking," explains Ver Eecke.If you’re worried about the amount of bacteria, Ver Eecke recommends seeking other options."There may be other options for you a bottle or other things to try to help keep you safe." 1901

TORONTO, Canada (KGTV) -- Canadian law enforcement officials have released disturbing surveillance footage showing a masked suspect posing as a delivery man firing a crossbow into a woman.The video, which was captured Nov. 7, 2018 but released this week, shows the suspect approaching the 44-year-old victim's porch holding a large cardboard box. The suspect rings the doorbell, exchanges words with the victim, then fires an arrow into her chest, leaving her with life-threatening injuries. The suspect then fled the scene in a dark-colored vehicle parked nearby, police said."After a brief conversation, the suspect shot the victim with an arrow using a crossbow that was concealed inside of the box," Peel Regional Police said.Investigators said the attack was premeditated, targeted, and isolated "based on the conversation that occurred between the victim and the suspect." No further details about the conversation were disclosed.Police said the suspect used an arrow "designed to hunt large game such as moose and deer and inflict the maximum amount of damage possible."Officers are seeking the public's help identifying the suspect in the attempted murder case.
