For the fourth time, Democrats in Wisconsin believe they have a chance to finally defeat Gov. Scott Walker and steer the state back to the left after eight years of Republican rule.First, though, the party will have to use Tuesday's primary to sort through its own crowded field of little-known candidates to find a nominee to oppose Walker.Tuesday's primaries in two key Upper Midwestern states -- Wisconsin and Minnesota -- will kick off Democrats' midterm push to capitalize on President Donald Trump's unpopularity and wrest back the dominant positions they once held in the states.The two states will join Ohio, Michigan and Illinois on the list of Midwestern battlegrounds with governor's offices on the ballot this fall that Democrats believe they can win.Walker, who frustrated Democrats in 2010, rolled back union rights in 2011, survived a 2012 recall election, and won again in 2014, looks vulnerable this year. A recent poll by NBC News/Marist found him trailing his potential challenger Tony Evers. He has warned Republicans repeatedly that the party faces an enthusiasm gap. And the progressive candidate's victory in a state Supreme Court election earlier this year buoyed the left's hopes there.In Wisconsin's wide-open Democratic gubernatorial primary, the leading candidate is Evers, who has been the state superintendent of public instruction since 2009.Polls have shown him with a lead of at least three-to-one. But the highest he's been in any recent public poll is 31% -- reflecting how little voters know about the vast field of potential Walker opponents.The two candidates who have received the most national attention are firefighter union president Mahlon Mitchell and former state Rep. Kelda Roys.Mitchell would become Wisconsin's first black governor. He's endorsed by California Sen. Kamala Harris, a potential 2020 presidential candidate. Another 2020 prospect -- New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand -- has endorsed Roys. For the first time since 2003, the American Heart Association is updating the comprehensive guidelines for blood pressure and hypertension.According to a release from the AHA, patients with a blood pressure reading of 130/80 should now be considered to have hypertension, or abnormally high blood pressure. Previously, a blood pressure level of 140/90 was the baseline for being diagnosed with hypertension.The new guidelines from the AHA mean that nearly half of all American adults — 46 percent — suffer from hypertension. By the AHA’s old standards, 32 percent of American adults suffered from high blood pressure. “We want to be straight with people – if you already have a doubling of risk, you need to know about it,” said Dr. Paul K. Whelton, the lead author of the AHA’s new guidelines. “It doesn’t mean you need medication, but it’s a yellow light that you need to be lowering your blood pressure, mainly with non-drug approaches.”Despite an increase in the amount of Americans with high blood pressure, the AHA hopes their new guidelines mean there will be only a small increase in the amount of patients requiring medication. The Association now generally recommends that patients with Stage 1 hypertension only be prescribed medication in the event of a heart attack or stroke, and they’re also recommending that pharmaceutical companies combine multiple blood pressure drugs. The AHA also hopes the new guidelines encourage patients to monitor their blood pressure at home, away from a stressful setting like a doctor’s office that can skew a single blood pressure test.According to the AHA, the new guidelines were developed by 21 science and health experts who reviewed more than 900 published studies.The new AHA guidelines for diagnosing hypertension are listed below. 1803

Four days after a massive earthquake?killed at least 347 people on the Indonesian island of Lombok, a 5.9 magnitude tremor hit the island, sending frightened residents onto the streets.Thursday's seismic event follows a 6.9 magnitude quake Sunday that flattened homes and stranded thousands of people on Lombok's northern coast and the nearby Gili Islands.The northern part of Lombok is more residential and less developed than the resort-filled south. Thursday's quake could be felt on Bali, another popular resort island in Indonesia.Endri Susanto, who runs a nongovernmental organization assisting with relief efforts, said the earthquake felt very strong in Mataram, a city on Lombok's west coast. 714
