LOS ANGELES -- Fire crews are on scene after a small brush fire broke out in a Los Angeles neighborhood Wednesday night. The fire broke out just before 6:30 p.m. in Pacific Palisades. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Mudslides, flooded freeways and dangerous driving conditions plagued the Southland Thursday thanks to a second straight day of rain, prompting road closures, mandatory evacuation orders in Orange County and fears that the situation could get much worse before the storm moves out. As of midday, no evacuation orders had been issued in the Malibu area, the scene of the recent Woolsey Fire that now has residents on the lookout for mud and debris flows. A mudslide during the morning commute inundated a stretch of Pacific Coast Highway near Leo Carrillo State Beach, forcing a full closure of the heavily traveled roadway clear north to Ventura County. Crews had the bulk of the mud cleared by midday, and the road was reopened. In Orange County, voluntary evacuation orders were issued Thursday morning for select neighborhoods near the Holy Fire, affecting the Trabuco Creek, Rose Canyon and Mystic Oaks/El Cariso areas. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Some U.S.-based users of WeChat are suing President Donald Trump in a bid to block an executive order that they say would effectively prohibit U.S. access to the popular Chinese messaging app. The complaint was filed Friday in San Francisco and asks a federal court judge to stop Trump’s order from being enforced. It claims a ban would violate U.S. users’ constitutional rights. Trump has ordered sweeping but vague bans on transactions with the Chinese owners of WeChat and the TikTok app. He says they threaten U.S. national security. The Commerce Department is expected next month to reveal the types of transactions that would be banned. 669

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Orange County sheriff's deputies shot and killed a Black man Wednesday after he allegedly tried to grab one of their guns during a struggle. According to an Orange County Sheriff's Department press release, two deputies from the Homeless Outreach Team made contact with the man outside the Hotel Miramar in San Clemente. "During the contact, a physical altercation occurred. Surveillance video at the scene showed that during the physical altercation, the subject attempted to gain control of a deputy’s gun," the department said in the news release. "Shortly after, a deputy-involved shooting occurred. Deputies began lifesaving measures, and the subject was pronounced deceased at the scene."The latest killing of a Black person by law enforcement happened on the same day as the decision not to charge Kentucky police officers for Breonna Taylor's death was announced. Part of the incident Wednesday afternoon in San Clemente, California, was captured on video and posted to social media by the Southern Orange County Black Lives Matter group. The man's name has not been released by authorities. It's not clear from the video if the man tried to grab the firearm. 1194
