A third installment of the “Sister Act” franchise is officially in the works.Disney confirmed Thursday evening that “Sister Act 3” is in development, with Whoopi Goldberg set to reprise her role as Deloris Van Cartier.The entertainment company said the film will premiere on Disney+, but didn’t provide a target release date.Along with starring in the film, “The View” co-host will produce it as well, alongside Tyler Perry. The two have worked together before, most recently in 2018’s "Nobody’s Fool” with Tiffany Haddish.Goldberg has been trying to get “Sister Act 3” made for some time now. LOS ANGELES (AP) — A new rule approved by the California Horse Racing Board means jockeys competing in the state won’t be allowed to strike a horse more than six times during a race and then only in an underhanded position. The rule would allow no more than two strikes in succession using whips that must meet new board standards to soften the blows. The board voted 4-2 to approve the rule. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - USC health officials Monday reported an "alarming" spike of 43 coronavirus cases confirmed in off-campus housing facilities, along with 100 students in quarantine due to possible exposure to COVID-19.According to Dr. Sarah Van Orman, head of USC Student Health, 14 cases were identified through general population testing among students not showing any symptoms, while 29 more were confirmed through contact tracing and testing of people showing symptoms or who were exposed to the illness."Los Angeles is at a critical juncture in public health," Orman wrote in a Monday virus update. "While no students have been hospitalized to this point, we all need to work together to protect those in our community who may be at higher risk of severe disease and prevent serious health outcomes for all. Your role in containing, or conversely, accelerating the rapid spread of COVID-19, can mean the difference between safely returning to a modified `new normal,' or having a prolonged period of remote-only academic experience and closed facilities."She urged students "in the vicinity of USC, especially those living with housemates or suite-mates," to get tested weekly through the university's "Pop Testing" program. LONDON — European Union regulators have filed antitrust charges against Amazon, accusing the e-commerce giant of using data to gain an unfair advantage over merchants using its platform. The EU’s executive commission, the bloc’s top antitrust enforcer, said Tuesday that the charges have been sent to the company. The commission said it takes issue with Amazon’s systematic use of non-public business data to avoid “the normal risks of competition and to leverage its dominance” for e-commerce services in France and Germany, the company’s two biggest markets in the EU.
