City crews completed a retaining wall and reopened Jimmy Durante Boulevard Wednesday afternoon. The road wasn't originally expected to reopen until June 4, several days after the fair opens on May 31. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Leonardo Hurtado Ibarra is being remembered as a family man with a complex and troubled life.“He’d always keep a smile on his face regardless of whatever he was going through," Abril Huerta told ABC 10News.Ibarra, 25, was shot and killed after allegedly pointing a revolver at a San Diego Police Department officer in Downtown San Diego on Saturday night.According to police, officers recognized Ibarra from a wanted poster in connection with a robbery that happened last week. Police said officers tried to talk with Ibarra but he walked away.Ibarra then dropped some items from his arms and "reached into his waistband," according to police. She said Ibarra "wasn’t a saint" and that he had a "complicated background."Ibarra was sentenced to three years in prison stemming from a domestic abuse case in 2013, according to court records obtained by ABC 10News.Huerta, who said she was the love of Ibarra’s life, told ABC 10News that he leaves behind three children.“He loved his family," Huerta told 10News in a statement. "He was the most loyal individual you could ever meet and he’d give you the shirt off his back if you were in need."“He only wanted to defend himself from any harm that were to come his way,” she said. The police department has not released the names of the officers involved in the shooting. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- It should be no surprise at this point that home prices are still on the rise in San Diego this April. A new report from Zillow shows that, year-to-year, home values in San Diego have risen more than eight percent. According to Zillow, the median home value in San Diego currently sits at just over 5,000. That change marks an increase of 8.4 percent since last April.Meanwhile, rent is also on the rise at a median of just over ,500, or an increase of 3.6 percent since last April.Click on the charts below for more information:  The high cost of housing in San Diego is in stark contrast with national home values.The median home value nationally is 5,600. If there's one thing San Diego and the rest of the nation have in common in this report it's that both saw home values increase by more than eight percent.“Home values are rising faster than we’ve seen in a very long time: The spring home shopping season has been a perfect storm of strong demand and tight supply,” said Zillow senior economist Aaron Terrazas.Nationally, the number of new homes being built is also seeing a decrease. “Sluggish new construction has exacerbated the supply situation and homes that are hitting the market, are moving very quickly once they do. Americans are also in a spending mood, boosted by recent tax cuts and rising wages. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Lego fans will have more to look forward to in 2019, as Legoland California plans new attractions in celebration of its 20th birthday.Among one of the park's 2019 offerings: Free admission for kids 12 and under on their birthday, starting in January."Having a chance to reflect on the last 20 years ahead of next year’s birthday celebration, it’s incredible to think about all we’ve accomplished during that time and the amount of kids we positively impacted through their experiences at the Resort," said park General Manager Peter Ronchetti.RELATED: Southern California theme parks ring in the holiday seasonAmong the new additions for 2019, Legoland said it plans to add new attractions and live shows for visitors to experience.One new addition will be a new attraction inspired by "The Lego Movie." The park will host special "Lego Movie" festivities from Feb. 16 - 17 and 23 - 24 around the park ahead of the attraction's opening.The park's resort is also getting a special zone geared toward toddlers modeled after Duplo. The play town will add an express train in the park and kids will be able to ride, slide, and hide in the interactive area.Also being added is a "Lego 4D-Officer in Pursuit" film that will play at the park's theater and new live character shows at the Miniland Stage.It's not exactly clear when the new additions would be opened to guests in 2019. 1458
