JERUSALEM, July 25 (Xinhua) -- A new study carried out by a Tel Aviv University researcher indicates that the common backache may not only be caused by bad positions or aging, but also by your genes.Prof. Gregory Livshits of the Sackler Faculty of Medicine says that genes play a major role in back pain, especially in the lower back, and in spinal deterioration.In a decade-long project with 2,500 identical and non-identical twins, Livshits found that, in one Arab family, the same back problems appeared in all the members of the family, whether young or old.According to the study, non-identical twins were three times more likely to have back pain, while identical twins were six times more likely to have the same back problems.Livshits believes the discovery of the link between back pains and genes could lead to much better treatment.The research was developed in collaboration with a team of scientists at Kings College, London, led by Prof. Tim Spector and Dr. Fran Williams and was recently published in the journal " Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases."In order to better investigate the genetic causes for one of the world most common pains, Livshits and his colleagues hope to put together an international consortium of research groups.

Genetically engineered mice containing human DNA are already a mainstay of research into new drugs for diseases like cancer.For instance, Chinese scientists have already introduced human stem cells into goat fetuses and U.S. researchers have studied the idea of creating a mouse with human brain cells.But Martin Bobrow, a professor of medical genetics at the University of Cambridge, who led the Academy's working group, said there were three areas of particular concern."Where people begin to worry is when you get to the brain, to the germ cells, and to the sort of central features that help us recognize what is a person, like skin texture, facial shape and speech," he said.His report recommends that government should put in place a national expert body, working within the existing system for regulating animal research, to oversee such sensitive areas.British ministers said they welcomed the report and would consider its recommendations carefully.

Apple Inc's former CEO Steve Jobs resigned."The Chinese market is the starting point for Lenovo, but it won't be the only place Lenovo should put emphasis on. We will set up a more active strategy for expanding in overseas markets," Liu said.The PC maker has long been focusing on the global market. It purchased the PC division of the IBM Corp. a few years ago. In January, it announced a 175-million-U.S.-dollar joint venture with Japan's NEC Corp. SAN FRANCISCO, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Database giant Oracle on Tuesday announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire FatWire Software, a provider of web experience management solutions.FatWire's solutions provide organizations with ability to deliver relevant customer content, build community engagement and drive site stickiness and loyalty.It currently has more than 500 customers in industries, including finance, healthcare, manufacturing, media, retail, public sector and more. Its key customers include Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Ford and Pfizer.Oracle said in a statement that the acquisition is expected to help Oracle clients improve online engagement across web, mobile and social channels, through website optimizations.The transaction is expected to close mid-year 2011 and the financial details were not disclosed. In its recent acquisitions, Oracle acquired e-commerce software company Art Technology Group for 1 billion U.S. dollars.
