SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Weeks after storms flooded University of California San Diego dorms, students are still reeling from the damage.UCSD officials said 41 students, from Thurgood Marshall and Revelle Colleges, were relocated after the flooding Nov. 20. By Dec. 6, they said 19 had moved back into their rooms.Students showed 10News their dorms that smelled of mold. Friday, a dorm in the Thurgood Marshall Lowers Apartments had a hole in the ceiling. Students said the hole was cut after water fell from the ceiling days after the Nov. 20 storm."I noticed something dropping and it's like starting to smell," a student said. "It started dropping from three holes in the ceiling ... SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Video captured a man smashing display cases inside a Mission Valley mall jewelry store Wednesday evening.The cell phone video given to 10News shows a suspect using whatever he can find to smash a jewelry case inside Zales.The incident started around 2:15 p.m. when a witness saw the man wearing a Padres jersey walking around suspiciously.The witness first saw the suspect take a hat from a kiosk before walking into Champs Sports, taking off his jersey and stealing a Nike jacket.The man then began to untie a pair of shoes on a mannequin in an attempt to steal them. Once he saw people watching him, the suspect left the shoes and ran to the jewelry store.He grabbed a pipe and tried to break open a jewelry case. After the unsuccessful attempt, he then grabbed a mirror and tried to do the same thing.Unsuccessful again, the suspect grabbed a chair and continued to smash the cases until he was able to stuff some necklaces into his pocket.By the time the man broke the display cases, police had arrived on scene, taking the suspect out in handcuffs. 1081

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Two San Diego area residents are asking the area's top two prosecutors to investigate and prosecute Assemblymember Todd Gloria for alleged violations of the Political Reform Act. According to a letter sent to San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan and San Diego City Attorney Mara Elliot, Kathryn Burton and Mat Wahlstrom allege Gloria "repeatedly violated PRA section 85200 by soliciting and receiving multiple contributions to his Assembly 2020 Committee before filing a statement of intent to run for the Assembly in 2020." The letter says, "without filing that statement, the FPPC's manual makes clear, he could not lawfully receive any funds into his Assembly 2020 Committee." The letter goes on to read, "my clients have reason to believe that there is a conspiracy to launder campaign money from an illegal campaign committee controlled by Mr. Gloria to the San Diego County Democratic Party, to a candidate to replace Mr. Gloria in the Assembly, and to several sitting members of the Assembly." According to the California Secretary of State's website, before raising any campaign funds, state candidates file "Statements of Intention" to run for a specific office. Candidates can file Statements of Intention for more than one office. Team 10 obtained Gloria's signed statement of intention, which shows the state received it on August 13, 2019.
