SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A driver says she lost control of her Honda Civic and slammed into a home in Encanto early Tuesday morning.The incident happened at around 2:45 a.m. on Otay Street, according to San Diego police.Despite the trail of destruction left behind, no one was injured.The homeowner said he heard the crash and had no idea what happened until he saw the destruction to his kitchen, with appliances pushed across the floor.Police are investigating the incident. 478

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A fire that burned near SDSU Sunday afternoon, forcing the evacuation of a nearby apartment complex has been contained. According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the fire burned roughly two and a half acres. University Police evacuated the Villa Alvarado Apartments during the blaze. Evacuees were asked by the school to report to the Tula Community Center at 6126 Montezuma Road. As of 2:18 p.m. evacuations were still in place. San Diego Fire-Rescue Tweeted around 1 p.m. that the blaze was burning on the 5500 block of Canyon Crest near SDSU. The fire also forced MTS to miss several stops during the fire including it's College and Alvarado stop, College and SDSU stop and SDSU Transit Center stop. Update: The fire is now contained, and no SDSU buildings are at risk of fire.Villa Alvarado remains evacuated at this time. SAN DIEGO (CNS)  - A 39-year-old woman suffered some head injuries Saturday morning during a home invasion at a residence in the Nestor community of San Diego, where one of two suspects fired a shot into the structure, shattering the glass of a rear patio door.No property was taken, said Officer Steve Bourasa of the San Diego Police Department.The woman was with her 45-year-old husband at their home in the 1500 block of Oro Vista Road when someone knocked on their front door a little before 1:30 a.m. and asked for a woman, Bourasa said.``The woman told the male no one by that name lived there," he said. ``The male left the front door and went to the rear of the residence, where he was joined by another male. The two males jumped the patio fence and began banging on the rear glass patio door."One of the suspects fired a shot into the patio door, shattering the glass and one of the two suspects entered the home, he said.He confronted the woman, demanded money and punched her several times when she said she did not have any money, he said.``Meanwhile, the husband had exited the front door and went around to the rear of the residence, where he saw the other male standing on the grass," Bourasa said. ``That male pointed a handgun at the husband and then fled."The man heard his wife screaming, ran back inside his home and saw her being assaulted by one of the two suspects. The man then began punching the suspect who had been assaulting his wife, causing the suspect to flee the residence, where he jumped over the patio fence and ran off, he said.The 39-year-old woman was transported to an area hospital, he said.One suspect was described as a 20 to 30 year old Latino man with a normal 5-foot, 7-inch tall normal build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with black pants and glasses.The second suspect was described as a 20 to 30 year old Latino man with a 6-foot, 2-inch tall normal. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A 65-year-old woman who was hit by a vehicle while crossing a Serra Mesa road Monday has died.The woman was walking to her car with her two adult children in the intersection of Ruffin Rd. and Village Glen Drive just before 8 p.m., according to San Diego Police.Her children separated and the two children made it safely to the other side of the intersection. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A family killed in a Logan Heights house fire in October was laid to rest Friday.Jose Antonio Romero Mayo, 44, Nicolasa Mayo-Cortes, 46, and daughter Iris, 21, all died from their injuries following the Oct. 13 fire.Funeral services were held at Saint Anthony of Padua in National City Friday morning.RELATED: Family's oldest son charged in Logan Heights house fire deathsTwo other surviving family members, Wendy and Angel, were out of the hospital and in attendance.After the church service, a funeral procession drove by the house the family once called home. Loved ones shared a moment in front of a memorial placed outside of the charred, boarded-up house on Clay Avenue.Friends of Mayo-Cortes described her as a hardworking mother who went through many hardships but was always resilient.
