SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Fans of Hello Kitty can catch the character's popular, pink cafe rolling through the North County and South Bay in the next month for the first time. The Hello Kitty Cafe Truck will be rolling through Carlsbad on Jan. 12 at The Shoppes at Carlsbad from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fans can catch the colorful cat near Regal Cinemas and Luna Grill.On Feb. 2, the truck is also scheduled to bring its delicious treats and trinkets to Chula Vista at the Otay Ranch Town Center.RELATED: San Diego Restaurant Week 2019: Over 180 restaurants taking partFans of the truck can grab a bite of tasty goodies, including a giant Hello Kitty cookie, macaroon set, and lunchbox with confetti popcorn. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Fifty-six years ago, San Diego officials sealed up a collection of items reflective of life in the early 1960s in America's Finest City.Friday, officials gathered at the old San Diego County courthouse to unearth those relics and take a glimpse into local history.Inside the time capsule: A copy of one edition of each newspaper published in San Diego County, 1961 coins, a county charter, a list of county officials, a copy of the capsule dedication, a leaflet sent out with 1961-62 tax bills, a newspaper clipping about the capsule, and various other items submitted by locals and organizations.RELATED: San Diego opens new courthouse trolley stationThe state Judicial Council is set to hand over the old courthouse property to San Diego County at the end of this month. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Dozens of San Diego short-term vacation rental hosts sounded off Wednesday against a bill that could limit how much they're able to rent out some of their properties on sites like Airbnb and VRBO.The hosts implored the California Coastal Commission to oppose the bill at its meeting on Shelter Island.The bill, by North County Assemblywoman Tasha Boerner Horvath, is specific to San Diego County's coastal zone and would sunset in five years. It would limit how much hosts can rent out their non-primary residences on sites like Airbnb and VRBO to 30 days a year. "I can't believe this has even come up as an actual bill," Airbnb host John Wilson told the commission.Hosts also said they are using the income to put their kids through college, and that their rentals provide families affordable, large accommodations near the coast, allowing visitors to avoid renting multiple hotel rooms and resort fees. But Boerner Horvath said the bill is needed because short-term rentals are adding to the region's housing supply crunch."When the upper level of housing stock is removed for short-term vacation rentals, the folks that would have actually lived there move down the market; they usually want to live in a certain area," she said. The bill passed the Assembly and is now scheduled for state Senate committee hearings. The legislation comes after an Airbnb-led signature drive essentially blocked restrictions the San Diego City Council approved in 2018. The commission heard 90 minutes of testimony, overwhelmingly opposed to the bill. Still, it remained neutral on the legislation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Hundreds of residents at “The Cliffs” mobile home park in Allied Gardens are fed up after living without running water since Thursday. The community consists solely of 55+ senior citizens, and many of them live alone or have limited mobility. "It's really kind of a pain in the neck,” 85-year-old resident William Shakespeare said. Like many of his neighbors living in the lower portion of the Cliffs, Shakespeare lost water since early Thursday. Luckily for him, his longtime girlfriend Suiko Paul is quite mobile. She became the go-to person for water supply for the entire street. "Elderly people live here. They don't drive. Somebody has to help them,” Paul said. She was been swamped. "She hauls water like crazy,” laughed Shakespeare. 10News met the on-site property manager as he and two others were digging a hole in the asphalt. He stepped away from the camera to tell us two old pipes burst on opposite ends of the mobile home park Thursday morning. Since then, he said he had been doing everything he can to fix the problem. But residents like Shakespeare and Paul did not want to see three people trying to fix a major water leak problem affecting more than 200 residents. "He's been here since Thursday, and they've been digging, but they're not sure where they're digging,” Shakespeare said. Many residents appreciated that the manager was trying to handle the problem himself, but they said it had gotten out of control. Like many of her neighbors, Paul said she had not taken a shower for four days, and she had gone to a friend’s house to wash dishes.The Red Cross began mobilizing at the clubhouse and doing door to door well-fare checks. But for many of the seniors, patience is running out."It seems like forever…. Not having water, I don't know what could be worse. Not having air, I guess,” Shakespeare said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Drone video of a Pacific Beach man's search and rescue of his blind pet chameleon plays out like the perfect Hollywood action sequence.Vince Kay Vera says his pet chameleon, "Pete," is temporarily blind due to an infection. "He doesn't normally act like this.
