During a press conference in Delaware on Tuesday, presumptive Democratic Presidential Nominee Joe Biden said President Donald Trump was "derelict" in his duties in regards to reports of Russia paying bounties to Taliban-linked organizations for killing U.S. soldiers."The idea that he somehow didn't know or isn't being briefed — it is a dereliction of duty if that's the case," Biden said. "And if he was briefed and nothing was done about his, that's a dereliction of duty."On Friday, The New York Times reported that Russia was secretly offering militant groups in Afghanistan — some of which had ties to the Taliban — payments in exchange for killing U.S. soldiers. Over the weekend, the White House said that Trump had not been briefed on the issue. But on Monday, The New York Times reported that the subject had been broached in Trump's Daily Presidential Brief from intelligence officials on Feby. 27. Furthermore, The Associated Press reported Monday that the White House was aware of the bounties as early as 2019."What are those parents (of military members) thinking out there? Sons and daughters? Husbands and wives? It's an absolute dereliction of duty," Biden said.Biden also slammed Trump's response to the coronavirus pandemic, excoriating the president's declaration that he was a "wartime president" by saying that Trump was "in retreat.""It seems like our wartime president has surrendered, wave the white flag and left the battlefield," Biden said. "Today, we face a serious threat, and we have to meet it as one country."Biden also urged all Americans to wear a mask to prevent the spread of the virus, echoing his promise to enact a national mask requirement should he become president.Biden was also asked about his potential running mate. In the past, the former vice president has said he would only consider a woman for the role, and while he did not give any specific names, he mentioned that there are "number of women of color. There are Latino women. There are Asian. There are across the board."Finally, Biden was asked about protecting some statues and monuments amid calls for removal from protesters. While Trump has called for the protection of monuments and military bases named for Confederate generals, Biden drew a distinction between Confederate monuments and statues to Founding Fathers who may have been slave owners."There's a difference between reminders and remembrances of history and recovering from history," Biden said. "...I think (Confederate) statues belong in museums, they don't belong in public places."He added that he believes the government has a duty to protect monuments to Founding Fathers who owned slaves, like Thomas Jefferson. 2699

Don't call it a comeback!Honestly, don't call it a comeback. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is still retired from the sport of boxing – undefeated record intact. The rumors of his impending UFC debut, on the other hand, are growing and it's a step into an entirely different combat sport. Many people are doubting Mayweather's ability to compete in the UFC, or MMA in general, but all indications are that he's supremely confident. Is there any way that a 40-year-old Mayweather can beat a 30-year-old Conor McGregor in MMA? No.That doesn't mean that there aren't other fighters that'll line up to challenge the self-proclaimed T.B.E (The Best Ever) and there's not like there isn't a precedent for the inexperienced jumping straight into the Octagon. [Cough] C.M. Punk [cough].Floyd Mayweather Sr. recently voiced his opinion on Mayweather Jr. trying his hand at MMA and his answer was shocking, to say the least.“The way I see it, I have to believe that this is where it’s going. The way it looks, I think so,” said Mayweather Sr."As his trainer, no, as his father, no. I want him to have all the money he’s got. The money he’s got, he’s got enough money. Look here, it’s crazy money, man jumping up. He’s his own man though, that’s one thing about him.”Personal feelings aside, Mayweather Sr. did give an honest assessment of Jr.'s chances in the UFC.“I’m gonna tell you the truth about it, I think he can win a few fights but I think it’s best to leave it alone. You can do your own thing but you’re in somebody else’s playground now and holes and stuff is in there. You just can’t do that. Don’t get me wrong, I believe he can beat some of them fighters like the same as he did with the other guy but it ain’t worth it. Any time you did what he's done did, there ain’t no other way he can go right now but backward. That’s the only way he can go right now.”At the end of the day, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is all about money and making more of it. If the UFC can drum up enough money to partner with Mayweather and offer a comparable opponent, [cough] C.M. Punk [cough], then it's far from impossible. At one time people scoffed at McGregor jumping into the boxing ring to challenge an undefeated Floyd Mayweather... We know how that story ended. 2241

EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- El Cajon native Jimmie Johnson has come a long way, but he hasn’t forgotten his roots in El Cajon. "Jimmie Johnson through three and four, make room Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt, there's another seven-time champ, Jimmie Johnson wins his seventh Nascar Sprint Cup Championship."Jimmie Johnson has become a NASCAR legend and to think back in the early 1990s, he used to walk the halls at Granite Hills High School."Yes, he was a typical Granite Hills student at the time he was heavily into motocross, you know, he was a desert rat like every other kid here at Granite," said Dan Santos, Assistant Principal at Granite Hills. Now to go along with his seven NASCAR titles, he's also accumulated 83 career wins.TIMELINE: El Cajon native and famed NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson through the years"My god, I can't believe it history boys no one ever,” Johnson said. And he's become a winner in the community as well. Over the years he’s given back to El Cajon and the entire East County through his Jimmie Johnson Foundation. He's helped high schools including Granite Hills with grants totaling over a half million dollars."To be able to give back and put a smile on people's faces and to give to people in need, you know, like our foundation does. And to even come back here and donate back to the school, on a different level, it's a totally different experience and a great experience to give back,” Johnson said in 2007. "Jimmie...gave us the ability to actually redo this whole concessions area for our site, for our students, and for our community as well,” Santos said. Complete Coverage: Life in El CajonBut there is more; his foundation has also made a difference in partnering with Habitat for Humanity to build new homes in the El Cajon area."It doesn't surprise me at all and for me as an alum, it makes me really proud to know that someone of that stature would give back not just to his high school, but to the community of El Cajon as well,” Santos added. 2003
