A retired police officer who was falsely accused by many Twitter users of accosting three young adults on a Maryland bicycle trail says he was saddened and scared by the barrage of hate directed against him.John Damskey, a Montgomery County police officer for nearly 30 years, was one of at least two men whose names, photos and personal information were posted by internet vigilantes before police on Friday arrested and charged another man, 60-year-old Anthony Brennan III, with assaulting three people posting flyers protesting the death of George Floyd.Millions of Twitter users have viewed a video of the encounter. Many falsely blamed Damskey, who says the experience has been surreal and terrifying.In a widely-shared video, the man, allegedly Brennan, attacked three young adults last week who were posting flyers in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. The video showed a man arguing and grabbing the flyers from one of the victims. The man then pushed his bicycle toward one of the victims who was filming the encounter.“I’ve got a wife who is in tears. My mom is scared to death,” he told The Associated Press on Monday. “It’s sad. It’s scary. It’s something that I don’t ever want to go through again.” 1229

A mother in Clarksville, Tennessee has been charged after the death of her 4-month-old daughter.Officials said they responded to a home in the 200 block of Orleans Drive after 11:30 a.m. Saturday on a call of an unresponsive child.Officers found the 4-month-old not breathing. They performed CPR, and the baby was taken to Tennova Hospital where she failed to regain consciousness and passed away.Detectives investigated the infant’s death leading to a criminal homicide charge against the baby’s mother, 25-year-old Sarah Danielle Scribner.A witness, identified in a police affidavit as Aeriel Shiraef, told authorities Scribner called her and said she'd done something bad. Scribner allegedly told Shiraef she had stopped the baby from crying by putting her hand over the infant's mouth. She added the infant was no longer breathing.Scribner was booked into the Montgomery County Jail.  916

A North Carolina schoolteacher who disappeared last month while out for a walk in Mexico is dead, according to a post on the verified Facebook page of the Governor of Chihuahua.Patrick Braxton-Andrew, 34, from Davidson, disappeared October 28 after leaving his hotel in Urique. Gov. Javier Corral Jurado, writing in Spanish, said that Braxton-Andrew crossed paths with a drug dealer from the Sinaloa cartel and was killed in a "cowardly and brutal murder."A Facebook page set up to find Braxton-Andrew said that Chihuahua state authorities had confirmed the death and are searching for those responsible to bring them to justice."The family would like to thank the Chihuahua Governor and Attorney General for their unwavering commitment to locating Patrick," a message said on the Find PBA Facebook page."Patrick died doing what he loved — traveling and meeting people. Join us in celebrating his life as he would want us to do. We will always remember Patrick and his joy for life. We love you PBA."His disappearance garnered national and international attention. Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina tweeted about the case two weeks ago, saying that he was working with the State Department and Mexican law enforcement. A tiger and panther cub pair was seized at the Tijuana Airport Tuesday. Both are safe an in custody. Officials say the cubs were found inside a wooden box with no documentation. Both were sent from the State of Mexico, but officials say their final destination is unclear. This isn't the first time a tiger cub has been taken in. Last August a tiger cub was seized from a car at the border by Customs and Border Protection officers. That cub has been under the care of the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.  528

A school bus driver's camera recorded the scary moment when another driver stopped in the middle of the Massachusetts Pike, exited his car and climbed onto the hood of the bus.Video recorded Tuesday shows a man forcing the bus to stop in the middle of the highway, then climb onto the vehicle's hood.The man got out right in the middle of the highway and he goes to the door of the bus.The bus driver does not let him in. So, he then goes back to the front and jumps right on the hood.The bus driver says the man was screaming that the windows on the bus were too dark."A man jumped on my bus going on the Mass. Turnpike, pulled me over in the middle lane and stopped the bus," said the bus driver."What did he say to you?" asked WCVB reporter John Atwater."His words were, 'Why are your windows dark?' I had the same reaction!
