SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – San Diego police are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing 17-year-old boy with several health problems.According to police, Jeremy Jose Sanchez was last seen by his mother at their apartment on Aug. 23 at around 9 p.m. Police did not disclose what part of the city the boy was last seen.The teen suffers from vision damage, loss of hearing, and has active tuberculosis. Police said he takes medications for his conditions, but he left his home without them.Police said Jeremy was reported as a runaway juvenile at risk due to health conditions.The teen is Latino with a tanned complexion, 6 feet 1 inches tall, weighs around 146 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair.Jeremy was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, blue jeans, and white, red and black Jordan shoes.Anyone with information on the teen is urged to contact San Diego police at 619-531-2000 or 911. 902

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Padres outfielder Tommy Pham is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after breaking a bone in his left hand during the team’s loss at Arizona Sunday.Padres skipper Jayce Tingler confirmed Pham’s injury during an appearance Monday on MLB Network Radio.The injury happened during Pham’s ninth inning at-bat in Sunday’s game. The left fielder/DH fouled off a pitch and then immediately shook his left hand in apparent pain.Following a visit from the trainer, Pham exited the game, forcing the Padres to put Greg Garcia in to finish the at-bat in the eventual 5-4 loss. The Friars' loss was their fifth in a row.At the time of his injury, Pham was the tied for the MLB lead in stolen bases with six and among the league leaders in walks. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego frontline workers are getting their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine and hope with the approval of Moderna's vaccine we will achieve herd immunity soon and get back to normal.Tri-City Medical Center Emergency Room Dr. Jeff Shellenberger said he was grateful he was notified he could get his shot Sunday."It was really quick, I think I waited like two minutes," he said.Timing is critical for the Pfizer vaccine, which needs to be stored between -112°F to -76°, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Once thawed, undiluted vials may be stored at room temperature for no more than 2 hours, according to the Food and Drug Administration.Dr. Shellenberger said he felt a huge sense of relief wash over him after getting the shot."There's going to be a force field around me in a few weeks to months it's going to be amazing!" he joked. "It's really great because when I go to work I don't have to worry about any of my coworkers getting sick. Just the other day I had a patient of mine and he was a coworker and so it's always kind of scary to see that, but it's great to get to see friends and family again and not have to worry."He said it takes about 5 weeks and two shots to reach full immunity.The CDC's advisory committee voted Sunday 13-1 frontline essential workers and adults ages 75 and older should be the priority in the next round of COVID-19 vaccine distribution.Frontline essential workers include first responders, educators, food, agriculture, manufacturing, postal service, grocery and corrections workers.About 30,000,000 Americans fall into that category.They suggested the next phase, 1C, prioritizes adults ages 65 - 75, people with pre-existing conditions, and other essential workers.Initial vaccine doses already are going to residents in long-term care facilities and health care workers."Nice to report our Western States Scientific Safety Review Committee reviewed the Moderna trial and unanimously supported it's safety and efficacy," Governor Gavin Newsom said in a video he tweeted Sunday, excited to have two vaccines in their arsenal to fight the pandemic.Dr. Shellenberger just hopes everyone comes together in 2021."I think in this past year we've had a whole lot of division. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego is home to the nation’s largest concentration of military personnel. As part of our Making It in San Diego initiative, we want to make sure veterans know there is potentially money available to them. 10News anchor Kimberly Hunt spoke to professionals in the field, as well as two veterans who are currently applying for benefits.Linda Urbina, Director of Client Services for Golden Care explains the different benefit packages. Aide & Attendance, while difficult to qualify for, will go a long way in paying a veteran's assisted living costs. A veteran would have to be found to have 30 percent of their medical needs deemed 'service-related.' Anything less than 30 percent could be covered by a benefit called Home Health Aide Care. That provides assistance with activities of daily living such as eating, dressing, personal grooming, bathing, toileting/incontinence care, transferring, and transportation. A veteran would have to need assistance with at least two of these ADL's to qualify for this program.Urbina has gone into homes to find a veteran whose needs are not being met and has called adult protective services. Later she finds out they could have received help from the VA. She sees wives "bent low from the burden of care giving" and veterans who "feel guilty" for being a burden. He strongly suggests a veteran "go talk with a veteran services officer at the VA., ask questions, sit down with someone and see if you might qualify for help." He acknowledges the VA is over-burdened, but he tells his clients not to give up. He says persistence pays off. It disappoints Watt to see someone wait years or decades before coming in. After years of what he and his wife describe as a frustrating battle with the VA, Simon now receives Homemaker benefits which give him an in-home caretaker 12 hours a day, and a pension benefit of 20 percent of his Navy pay. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego County homebuyers could be gaining an upper hand in negotiations as the region's housing market slows.A new report from real-estate tracker CoreLogic says 2,936 homes changed hands in San Diego County in November, an 11 percent drop from November 2017. Meanwhile, the rate of home-price appreciation slowed to 4.6 percent year-over-year. The median home price was 5,000 in November."It's a good time to get in there," said Mark Goldman, a San Diego loan officer with C-2 Financial. "There's more selection of homes to purchase, and there's probably sellers who are more willing to consider offers maybe a little bit below their list price, and so forth."CoreLogic says Southern California as a whole has seen its biggest sales drop in three years. The company says higher interest rates and the volatile stock market could be contributing to buyer pullback. The average rate for a 30-year-fixed is now 4.55 percent, up about a half percent from a year ago. Goldman said qualifying families, even with a few percent cash down, should be able to get an offer accepted in this market."Be cautious, make an offer at a good price, work with a professional realtor who can guide you to a reasonable price, but if you're going to be in that house five years or so, I think you'll be happy," Goldman said.Goldman said the market is coasting at a rate of appreciation that is more sustainable. He said the 6 to 8 percent annual price growth could not last with wages not growing nearly as fast, he said. Goldman added he expects the market to speed up again in the springtime, which is peak season, but that he does not expect prices to skyrocket. 1679
