China has been offering subsidies for new energy vehicle purchases in a bid to increase the numbers of cleaner vehicles on the road.
China became an aged society in 1999 when people age 60 and older crossed the international threshold of 10 percent of its population. The population that falls in the age group has ballooned over the decades that followed, reaching 253 million by end of 2019, or 18.1 percent of the total population, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
China currently offers subsidies in three tiers to full-electric passenger cars: 20,000 yuan to those driving further than 100 km but less than 150 km; 36,000 yuan to those with a range between 150 km and 250 km; and 44,000 yuan to those capable of driving farther than 250 km.
China has made great accomplishments in such fields as science and technology, arts and culture, education, medicine and social welfare, he said.
China has emerged as the "factory of the world" with a focus on advanced manufacturing, while India's information and communication technology industry and outsourcing industry have gained global recognition. The complementary strengths of the two economies can be exploited for mutual benefit.
