Instagram announced Tuesday they were kicking off National Bullying Prevention Month by testing two new features that combat users writing comments that are considered bullying and harassing.The social media platform said in a blog post that one of the new features would automatically hide similar, negative comments that have already been reported." We know from research that, while people don't want to be exposed to negative comments, they want more transparency into the types of words that are hidden," Instagram said in the blog post.To see the remarks, Instagram says you can tap on "view hidden comments."Instagram added that they've also expanded their existing systems to include "an additional warning when people repeatedly attempt to post potentially offensive comments."Since launching comment warning, the company said they'd seen a shift in user's behaviors when providing real-time feedback as they are writing negative comments. 956

It's been a while since Austin Rick was in the spotlight but after a Facebook message he posted last week the former country music singer's name is making the rounds again."I decided that I want to shine a light on the monster that is Kirt Webster and I want to hopefully give a voice or at least some confidence and prevent anyone else from becoming his victim in the future," Rick said. Rick moved to Nashville in 2008, the then 21-year-old says his relationship with Webster Public Relations CEO Kirt Webster began in good spirits but things changed and ultimatums were given. "I can make sure you're never broke again, all kinds of these things, but you have to do what I want you to do and you have to follow in my way," Rick explained. Soon, Rick said the incidents began. "He said to me I want there to be fireworks in your career but there has to first be fireworks between the two of us," he said. During one incident, Rick said Webster feared he'd back out of an opportunity to be in Playgirl magazine. "In order to prove that to me I want you to strip down naked right now in front of me. So I stripped down naked in front of him. In mid-July, California’s department of transportation, known as CalTrans, was supposed to break ground on a highway construction project that was expected to take 18 days.The work was to repair and repave 800 feet of the busy 101 Freeway that connects San Francisco to the mainland, but the work never started because the project wrapped up in April, months before it was originally expected to begin."In the Bay Area, it was one of our busier years,” said CalTrans spokesman Bart Ney.The only reason contractors were able to start and complete the project months ahead of schedule was because of COVID-19.“We had to reduce traffic in normal situations by 30%, which was going to be very difficult,” said Ney. "In this case, we already had about a 40% traffic reduction because of people staying home for COVID-19.”In Colorado, something similar happened as plans to add an express lane through the main mountain corridor were able to accelerate a month.“It was over a 50% drop in traffic,” said Colorado Department of Traffic spokeswoman Presley Fowler.In April, the Federal Highway Administration says Americans drove 40% fewer miles than they did during the same time in 2019. It allowed projects in Nevada, Arizona, Wisconsin, Texas, Virginia, and Florida to all start ahead of schedule as well.The reduction in traffic didn’t only speed up work timelines, it also increased safety for workers as they could work during daylight hours that typically would have been off limits because of rush hour traffic. INDIANAPOLIS -- The two men accused of shooting and killing a 1-year-old were at home playing video games at the time, the mother of one of the suspects said Wednesday morning.Darrin Banks, 27, and Brian Palmer, 29, have been charged with shooting and killing 1-year-old Malaysia Robson on March 30. "I want the detectives, I want whoever, to pull up Microsoft and see where they have logged in," Renee Sloan, Palmer's mother,  said. "You have dinged these men as murderers. You have put a tag on them as murderers, and they're not murderers."Robson was killed when gunfire struck her home on the 3500 block of Wittfield Avenue. Police have said it began as a dispute on social media. Someone then drove to the home and opened fire at around 2 a.m. Banks and Palmer face preliminary charges of murder and aggravated assault. "The whole community is talking about Darrin Banks and Brian Palmer," Sloan said. "Those are their names. They're not murderers. They're human beings and they have names. They did not do this. That is not in their demeanor. That is not how they work. That is not what they do. I want to have a voice for them. Everyone else has a voice but those two. I want people to know what type of people they are."The weekend after Robson was killed, the 1-year-old's grandmother helped organize a call for unity in the community and a march to reduce gun violence.For Robson's grandmother, it was a way to remember her grandchild and push for change so no family ever has to go through the same loss."For anyone with kids - go home and love your kids like never before," she said. Malaysia Robson is the youngest victim of a fatal shooting in Indianapolis since 2013.
