SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Three dogs are getting a second chance at life. Wednesday night they were reunited with a local Marine - after months of being apart. Marine Corps Captain Kyle Watkins has been waiting months to see the dogs he rescued as puppies while stationed in Iraq. Wendy, Hesco and Rooster were flown to the states to be adopted by Watkins and another Marine with the help of SPCA International and Operation Baghdad Pups.Watkins says he couldn't help but feed and care for the dogs, who in turn began to look out for him; their big brown eyes and wagging tails bringing comfort during some rough times. Two of the dogs will stay with Watkins and his wife on their farm in Temecula, the third will be adopted by another Marine.  776

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego region needs to develop new housing units at a pace not seen since before the housing bubble burst to meet the demand.A new report from the San Diego Association of Governments says the region needs to add about 171,000 new houses, condos and apartments by 2029, based on a state projection of population growth. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The San Diego City Attorney's Office has filed charges against a man accused of harassing multiple women at a Mission Valley shopping center.Three misdemeanor charges were filed against Orlando Chavez of San Diego, including two for false imprisonment, and one for criminal assault and battery. The City Attorney's Office says Chavez held some women against their will by climbing under their cars and refusing to come out.City officials say Chavez would approach most of his victims in a shopping center at 10330 Friars Rd. In one instance, he reportedly grabbed one woman by the arm and told her, “You can flatten me out any time.” The City Attorney's official initially indicated the incidents took place at Westfield Mission Valley, but later said that was incorrect.In another instance, he reportedly followed a woman into her workplace, and approached another victim as she waited to pick up her children at school. City officials say police investigated him for stalking that woman for nearly two years and slashing the tires of her husband’s car."Everyone has the right to feel safe when going to work, shopping, or picking up their children at school," City Attorney Mara Elliott said. "As City Attorney, I take seriously threatening and harassing behaviors like this and will hold accountable individuals who endanger the safety of any San Diegan."Investigators added that Chavez, 72, has a history of crawling under women's vehicles to prevent them from leaving dating back to 2018.In multiple incidents, he was seen driving a white Chevrolet truck, with a personalized license plate reading HINUF. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The Padres’ weekend series against the Mariners has been moved from Seattle to San Diego due to poor air quality in the Pacific Northwest.In a statement, the Padres said: “Due to air quality concerns in Seattle and out of an abundance of caution, the scheduled series between the Padres and Mariners from September 18-20 has been moved to Petco Park in San Diego. Friday’s game will begin at 6:40pm, Saturday’s game will begin at 6:10pm and Sunday’s game at 1:10pm. The Mariners will serve as the home team for all three contests.”This week, the poor air quality forced the Mariners to move their home series at T-Mobile Park against the Giants to San Francisco’s home ballpark. 706

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Thousands of people gathered in Balboa Park to support those living with Alzheimer’s disease.The annual “Walk for Alz” is one of the biggest Alzheimer’s awareness events in San Diego. Ken Darling has been participating in the event for the last 10 years.“My mom has passed but, I keep coming back to say thank you to an organization that helps other people going through this disease," Darling said.The Walk for Alz is put on by Alzheimer’s San Diego. The organization offers free resources to caregivers and family members of people in need.“It’s a family disease,” says Eugenia Welch, President of Alzheimer’s San Diego. “It effects so much more than just the person who is diagnosed because the whole family has to adjust their way of life to make sure that person is safe.”About 84,000 people in San Diego County are currently living with Alzheimer’s or another Dementia. That number is up from the 65,000 reported cases last year. Alzheimer’s San Diego says the goal for the event is to raise at least 0,000. All the money goes to resources in San Diego County.  1112
