WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wisc. -- A Town of Merton man was charged after he called police when sex workers he hired allegedly stole his phone.Scott A Peschmann, 41, along with Victoria Pena, 24, and Maria Lebron, 27, were charged with prostitution and theft after meeting at Peschmann's home for sex, according to the criminal complaint. "Officers made contact with Scott Peschmann who indicated that three females had been at his residence and had stolen his cell phone and 0 in cash," said the criminal complaint. Peschmann had met Pena on the website, "back page," and arranged for an "intimate evening." They agreed upon a price of 0 for various sexual acts.  "Peshmann indicated that he had left four 0 bills on the corner fo the front room desk as a donation for the girls," said the criminal complaint. Peshmann noticed that his cell phone and the money were missing when Lebron went to the car to get a condom. The women were later stopped after officers spotted their vehicle and Peschman's phone was found in Lebron's purse.   1120

WASHINGTON, D.C. – It’s a convergence of two health crises: the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and a new flu season now underway.“There’s not much flu in the northern hemisphere in the summer - but there is a lot in the southern hemisphere,” said Dr. Amesh Adalja, a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security and an infectious disease critical care and emergency medicine physician.Dr. Adalja said health care professionals have observed the flu in places like Australia and New Zealand during the past several months, which could offer clues into what might be expected here as our weather gets colder.“The southern hemisphere has had a remarkable flu season mostly because it's 99% lower than what they've seen in prior years,” Dr. Adalja said. “This has to do with the fact that the social distancing that people are doing for COVID-19 also has an impact on influenza because they're both spread in the same manner.”However, the U.S. has failed to control the spread of the coronavirus, leading to fears that the country might be facing a “twindemic,” where COVID-19 and the flu collide.The one silver lining: less international travel around the world may make it harder for the flu to spread globally like it has in years past.“The point we have to continue to emphasize is we don't know for sure if we'll have a light flu season and we have to prepare for one that's severe,” Dr. Adalja said.So far, the coronavirus has killed more than 210,000 people in the U.S. this year. WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. — U.S. Marshals safely recovered 123 missing children in a one-day operation in Michigan.The U.S. Marshals Service - Detroit Missing Child Recovery Unit, U.S. Marshals Service Sex Offender Investigations Branch, Michigan State Police and law enforcement officers from Wayne County agencies participated in Operation MISafeKid, a missing juvenile sweep to identify and recover missing children from the area with an emphasis on locating victims of sex trafficking.According to the U.S. Marshals, out of 301 files of missing children, 123 were identified and recovered safely, all of which were interviewed about potentially being sexually victimized or used in a sex trafficking ring. Three such cases were discovered.The Detroit Missing Child Recovery Unit was requested to assist on 30 missing child cases two weeks prior to the sweep.
