SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Uber is utilizing selfie technology to make sure both its drivers and passengers wear face masks to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.The ride-sharing company has been requiring drivers and riders to wear masks since May, but only required drivers to use its technology to verify their face coverings.“Before starting to drive passengers or deliver food, they are asked to take a selfie showing their mouth and nose are covered,” Uber wrote in a press release.Now, the requirement is being expanded to passengers as well. If a driver reports that a rider isn’t wearing a mask, the rider will be required to take a selfie with their face covered before they’re able to take another trip with Uber.“With the addition of this new feature, one driver’s feedback can help ensure the safety of Uber for the next driver,” said Uber.The mask verification feature will roll out to the U.S. and Canada by the end of September, and across Latin America and other countries after that.Uber assured that the mask verification tool detects the mask as an object in the photo and does not process biometric information.“As always, riders and drivers are free to cancel a trip, without penalty, if the other person isn’t wearing a mask,” Uber wrote. “As more and more riders and drivers take their ‘second first trip,’ we hope this increased accountability provides more peace of mind.”The additional safety measures are part of Uber's efforts to rebuild a service that has seen ridership plunge by 56% in the company's most recent quarter, The Associated Press reports. 1595

Jessica Bell says she battled health issues, so she and her husband came up with the idea for safer food containers."It just isn't the way I wanted to live my life," she says in reference to her illnesses.So for one, she decided to eat healthier food, and at the same time, steer away from storing food in plastic containers."I realized I had to take out the things that were contributing to disease. Trying to avoid that contact that food has with those plastic chemicals. We want to be a force for change there.."And the action she took was forming a company with her husband called ReVessel."The idea of a container that can be transported and have all these modular features."Made of stainless steel and silicon, the food storage kits, as they are called, were developed with the help of deep sea engineers. and with one top priority. "it's an opportunity for people to carry their lunch anywhere, whether it's in a backpack or purse."But there is more to these storage kits, as they are also environmentally safe."The average number of sandwich bags that children are carrying is about four, and that's daily. "We put together over 200 meals, and we sent these out to front line workers. They can keep these containers and reuse them. It was in the summer, to like go big. And one of them said, 'Diagon Alley'," he said.Chambers was fully committed to making this the best Diagon Alley fans had ever seen, but he had to leave his job to accomplish this project.  He decided to create the real-life Diagon Alley in his driveway. Chambers has been a creative director for more than 20 years and focusing on the details was his forte.At this Diagon Alley, muggles are allowed in. They walk into a magical filled with an assortment of shops and items on Hogwarts'  supply list. There is Olivander’s Wand Shop, Eyelops' Owl Emporium, Madam Malkin’s Robes for all Occasions and Flourish and Blotts where students buy their school books.Once word got out about the Diagon Alley Project, fans from around the world flocked to see this wizarding world in Washington.“They walk in the door and some of them have burst into tears. It’s been incredible," Chambers said.From overzealous screams, hysterical cries and a few marriage proposals, the Diagon Alley Project became a bigger success than Chambers ever imagined.As thousands of muggles roamed through their fantastical getaway, Chambers and his family realized they had an opportunity to make an even bigger difference. They decided to collect donations from visitors to raise money for cancer research. SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A fast-moving fire broke out in the mountains near Santa Barbara late Monday afternoon. According to KEYT, the blaze, named the Cave Fire, sparked around 4:15 p.m. along Highway 154 and East Camino Cielo. By 5 p.m., the fire had burned 15 acres. That number quickly grew to 2,500 acres by 7:54 p.m., The Tribune reports.
