Women who said they preferred to get out of bed early were found to have a lower risk of breast cancer than those who stay up late.However, experts cautioned that other breast cancer risk factors such as alcohol consumption and being overweight have a greater impact than sleep and said there was no reason to change your sleep patterns.One out of 100 women who considered themselves morning people developed breast cancer, compared with two in 100 women who described themselves as evening people, according to the study, which was published Wednesday in the BMJ.The study also found that sleeping more than the average seven to eight hours per night was found to have a slightly increased risk of breast cancer. The researchers dubbed the addiction as "buying-shopping disorder" (BSD), which "is characterized by extreme preoccupations with and craving for buying/shopping and by irresistible and identity-seeking urges to possess consumer goods."While the study looked at shopping more broadly, the researchers believe that the ability to shop online is feeding the addiction. "As e-commerce provides an important shopping environment, traditional BSD may migrate into the online retail market," the study states. Rockland County, a suburb of New York City, is taking a big step when it comes to vaccination. Effective Wednesday, any unvaccinated child is banned from public places. Their parents could even face jail time. "Anyone who is under 18 years of age and is unvaccinated against the measles will be barred from public places until the declaration expires in 30 days,” announced Ed Day, a Rockland County executive. A state of emergency was declared in the county, following what officials say is the worst measles outbreak there in decades. As of this week, there have been 153 confirmed cases. "We have now the worst outbreak in the nation,” said Day. “The time has come to do something." Minors, excluding those with medical exemptions, are now barred from schools, churches and stores. Although police won't be patrolling vaccination records, leaders say parents could face jail time and fines. SUMMIT COUNTY, Colorado — A skier was declared dead after he was found unconscious at the bottom of a ski run at Keystone Resort in Colorado on Saturday.Just before 12:30 p.m. local time on Dec. 22, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a 52-year-old male skier who was found not breathing at the bottom of one of the resort’s runs. There was no indication that he had collided with any object. Skiers on the run had started CPR when authorities arrived. The skier was transported to the Keystone Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. The identity of the skier is being withheld until notification to the next of kin has been made by the Summit County Coroner. 708
