SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Scripps Ranch woman who contacted Team 10 about problems with her Samsung refrigerator is now receiving a full refund after Team 10’s story aired.Stephanie Nivinskus bought her Samsung french door refrigerator in December 2014. It cost her nearly ,000. She said she had issues roughly six months after she bought it. "It's been a headache since the beginning," Nivinskus told Team 10 in September.The first problem was the ice maker does not function properly, according to Nivinskus."The ice just gathers and collects up there. It makes it so it doesn't work," Nivinskus said.She also has issues with the temperature of the refrigerator. The FDA says a safe temperature inside a refrigerator is 40 degrees or below. During the initial interview with Team 10, the thermometer inside of Nivinskus' refrigerator read about 56 degrees."Having spoiled food is a real problem," she said. Shortly after, a full refund for her refrigerator was processed.“Thank you so much for helping us because fighting by myself, I was getting a whole lot of nowhere,” Nivinskus said.Samsung is currently facing a class-action lawsuit regarding the broken ice makers. There are also more than 5,400 people in a Facebook group demanding a recall of Samsung refrigerators.In an email, a Samsung spokesperson told Team 10 in response to the initial story: "At Samsung we stand behind all of our products, including our refrigerators, and want to ensure our customers are completely satisfied. If a customer encounters any problem with their product or service, we encourage them to reach out to us directly at 1-800-SAMSUNG so we can provide assistance."Nivinskus said she spoke to customer service before contacting Team 10. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A surveillance system caught a man breaking into a College Area Thai Restaurant and stealing hundreds of dollars in cash and tech equipment. 10News met with Chira Svangvitaya, owner of "Sala Thai." She has been serving dishes from her homeland to the San Diego community for almost 30 years. But when she opened the store on Halloween morning, she found her store in shambles. “I saw all the things all over the floor," Svangvitaya said. MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodHer surveillance cameras captured the break-in just before 7 a.m.  A man crept in through the back door, ran through the dining area while pulling up his hood, then headed straight to the front counter. He took 0 in cash, five tablets, and a laptop before tiptoeing out the back door. "He was like a pro," she said. “In and out in less than five minutes.”While the stolen money was substantial, the absence of the tablets hurt her most.“I have Uber Eats. Grub Hub, Postmates, Door Dash, Amazon, and Yelp," she said.She said 30 percent of her sales come solely from deliveries, which means she is losing out on a lot of customers. But she said there is a silver lining to this. What the thief may not know, is that the tablets' only function is food delivery. The resale value is unsubstantial. They all come with serial numbers, which she hopes the police and delivery companies use to track them and the thief down. “I just want them [the police] to catch the guy. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A warning for all homeowners after what looked like a yard sale turned out to be an elaborate theft. Several men staying in a vacation rental near La Jolla pulled up in a moving truck, stealing everything inside. Surveillance cameras caught men moving things through a Birdrock-area garage and into a truck, but the men aren’t movers. They were reportedly staying in the vacation rental, but according to the homeowner had checked in using fake credentials, fake credit cards and fake IDs. "As soon as I found out I went and told all of my employees, and will definitely spread the word that there is a crew going around doing something like this,” said Tyler Trowbridge, a contractor at Trowbridge Custom Floors.Trowbridge is a contractor working in the neighborhood. He’s had tools stolen while working at home and knows how the homeowner is feeling. "You don't wish it upon anybody, it's their personal belongings and their home was invaded. It's a breach of privacy and an invasion in your world."In this case, it wasn’t small belongings either. The owner says the men cleared the place out, taking everything from furniture and TVs to the stove. "When I talked to the actual owner, it was a lot more intense than I thought."What’s more, the owner says meth was left inside. "The fact that there were drugs in the house too, leads me to believe that it might happen again too."La Jolla Vacation Rentals is the property manager. 10News asked them for an interview, but they wouldn’t do it. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An unexplained odor was detected late Friday by several San Diego residents, from Point Loma to San Marcos.The National Weather Service San Diego tweeted they were unsure what was causing the "funky smell around San Diego," after residents began reporting the odor.They added that they could also smell it at their Rancho Bernardo offices. 366

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A suspect was arrested Sunday morning after reportedly stealing someone’s car and stabbing the owner who tried to prevent the theft.According to police, the incident happened around 9:10 a.m. on the 2800 block of Jarvis Street in Point Loma.When the owner of the car tried to stop the man, the suspect stabbed the victim.
