But there's no denying the impact the local industry has had on the region over the past decade.RELATED: San Diego getting an official craft beer known as '72 and Hoppy'At Stone Brewery, the craft of beer is taken seriously - much like at many other local breweries that now pepper San Diego County.Padraic "Paddy" Lenehan, Stone Brewing's global beer curator, walked 10News through the different tastes that San Diegans crave when it comes to craft beers.Beer 101Lenehan walked us through a few of Stone's popular beers offered throughout the year and seasonally: Stone Ripper San Diego-style Pale Ale, Stone Vengeful Spirit IPA, Miguel Ceja Andrade/Brandon Berube Stone Merc Machine Double IPA, and Stone Xocoveza Mocha Stout.Pale AlePale Ales are considered a good balance of both malt and hops and can range to include fruity notes or varying degrees of floral tastes. American versions tend to be hoppier, while British version tend to be maltier.IPA (India Pale Ale)An Indian Pale Ale is generally a herbal, citric beer with a hoppy bitterness. These beers can range in color from golden brown to a reddish amber and can also range in flavors to include fruity notes or more floral hints.Double IPAThe Double IPA is often referred to as an American IPA on steroids. Those tastes of an IPA are amplified and stronger than their single IPA relatives. The style, credited as West Coast-style IPAs, are generally very hoppy to the taste.StoutAmerican stouts are inspired by traditional English-style stouts, with a balanced and generally heavy taste. Gavin Newsom on Monday announced updated guidance for hair and nail salons and barbershops in California that would allow those businesses to shift their operations outdoors amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.Last week, Newsom announced the shutdown of indoor operations, including beauty services, as COVID-19 cases across the state increased.In the days following Newsom’s order, restaurants were able to move dining outdoors, but barbershops and hair/nail salons were not able to do work outside.During a Monday press briefing, Newsom said the state updated its regulations for barbershops and hair salons for when they are moved outdoors.Some of the guidelines include:-- Face coverings required for employees and customers during service; workers should also have access to face shields, gloves and other personal protective equipment-- Outdoor operations must be under a tent, canopy or other sun shelter as long as no more than one side is closed, allowing sufficient outdoor air movement-- Temperature screenings for employees; screenings recommended for customers upon arrival-- Businesses should confirm customer appointments in advance and ask if a customer or someone in their household exhibits COVID-19 symptoms-- Stagger appointments to reduce customer congestion at business; this will also give business time to clean/sanitize-- Recommended expansion of operating hours to space out customer appointments-- Suspend walk-in visits-- Frequently disinfect commonly used surfaces and workstations-- Clean and disinfect all electrical and non-electrical tools-- Ensure any outdoor shade or outdoor working area has the same ventilation and airflow as the outdoors-- Have designated outdoor area for customers to waitClick here to view the state’s complete guidance sheet for hair salons and barbershops.For nail salons, some of the guidelines for operating outdoors include:-- Clients will be asked to apply hand sanitizer before nail services-- Employees should wear face shield with face covering when performing service on client’s face or neck areas (when he/she is not wearing face covering)-- Clients won’t be allowed to have a manicure and pedicure on the same visit-- Workers must have disposable gloves when performing services-- Businesses will have to evaluate if plastic partitions can be used between employees and clients; implement social distancing of workstationsClick here to view the state’s complete guidance sheet for nail salons and other personal care services, including massage therapy. 2549

(KGTV) -- A South Bay woman is mourning the death from COVID-19 of her boyfriend and her 'second chance' at love.Derik Williams started feeling sick in early July."Felt very fatigued, no cough," said Carol Althoff.Five days later, Althoff, his girlfriend of four years, brought him to the ER."Outside, they took his temperature and it was 101°.Williams was admitted and put on a sleep apnea CPAP device to help him breathe. A few days later, she got a call."He called home and he was his old self. 'Hi, babe, how are you?'" said Althoff.She was expecting a call the next day about him coming home.Instead, a doctor called about Williams needing to be placed on a ventilator. She talked to Willliams on the phone."We cried together. We said our 'I love you.' It was extremely emotional," said Althoff.A few days later, William - a father of 4 and a grandfather - passed away, days before his 55th birthday. Althoff, whose first husband died of cancer, says she didn't think she would find love again until she met Williams a few years later."Derek was loving. He was happy and so giving," said Althoff.She says the Air Force veteran was always volunteering, whether it was for The Rock Church, Stand Down, or soup kitchens."It was part of who he was. He wanted to be a better person, better than the person he was yesterday," said Althoff.As for where the coronavirus came from, Althoff isn't sure. She says Williams was diligent about masks and mostly went to the grocery store and his work, an aerospace company where he worked as a forklift operator. Althoff is making an urgent plea to COVID-19 seriously."Please, wear your mask. If not for you, then for the person you may be encounter," said Althoff.A Gofundme campaign has been set up to help with expenses.Williams did suffer from underlying conditions, including a heart condition and diabetes.The Rock Church issued the following statement:"We are deeply saddened at the loss of Derik Williams. He has been a faithful volunteer at the Rock Church for over five years. From serving on our hospitality team to greeting guests Derik was known for his infectious smile, joyful spirit and desire to help others know Christ. We are praying for his family and friends during this time that God might comfort them during their loss.This past Sunday, the Hospitality Volunteer team had a memorial service to honor Derik Williams' life via Zoom. As people shared their thoughts and memories of Derik, one thing was clear Derik had a huge heart in being intentional about checking in on his friends/team members. He had a big smile and loved God with all his heart. We join in honoring the life and legacy of Derik alongside his family." 2693

(KGTV) - Did McDonald's in Japan really come out with new cups that, when held at certain angles, show two children in X-rated positions?Yes.Last month, McDonald's in Japan unveiled special designs for its new McFizz drinks.They're supposed to show 2 children falling in love. When the cup is empty, the boy on one side and the girl on the other side line up and share an innocent, intimate moment.But customers quickly realized that if you angle the cups the boy and girl are engaging in some very naughty behavior.Social media is now filled with the X-rated images.No comment from McDonald's which has not pulled the cups from its restaurants. 654
