STOCKHOLM – Greta Thunberg showed support for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in a rare political tweet Saturday. The 17-year-old environmental activist wrote that she doesn’t usually engage in party politics, but the upcoming U.S. election “is above and beyond that.”“From a climate perspective it’s very far from enough and many of you of course supported other candidates. But, I mean…you know…damn!” wrote Thunberg. “Just get organized and get everyone to vote #Biden.”In the same tweet, Thunberg shared an editorial piece from Scientific American that says, “choosing Donald Trump for president is choosing fiction over fact – a fatal mistake.” In September, the publication broke with its 175-year tradition of not endorsing presidential candidates and backed Biden.Thunberg has become a face of the movement to combat climate change.Thunberg has also been criticized by Trump in the past. When the activist was named Time’s Person of the Year in 2019, the president mocked her, saying she needed to “work on her anger management problem, then go to a good old-fashioned movie with a friend.”Trump has publicly dismissed the science on climate change. Last month, he said “I don’t think science knows” what it’s talking about regarding global warming and the resulting worsening of wildfires, hurricanes and other natural disasters. 1355
TAMPA, Fla. — Nearly 90 friends in the Tampa, Fla., area are betting big on their Mega Millions chances Tuesday. The group pooled together their money to purchase 11,000 tickets from a Ybor City neighborhood market, according to The Tampa Bay Times. And it's not the first time the group has gone in together for the prize either. The group has already reportedly spent ,000 on Mega Millions tickets, and rolled over winnings of ,224, according to the paper.Ryan McGuinness, who purchased the tickets, told the Times, "Everybody is back in."The group is hoping those past winnings pay off with Tuesday's drawing for the .6 billion jackpot. With a lump sum option of 5 million, divide that by 90 and each is walking away with at least million — before taxes. Not a bad chunk of change if you're willing to wait for all those tickets to be printed. If no one wins the Mega Millions jackpot yet again Tuesday, that pot could grow to an estimated billion for Friday's drawing. 1015

Taylor Swift did something bad for the opening of the 2018 American Music Awards Tuesday night. The singer, who just wrapped the North American leg of her "Reputation" tour, kicked off the show with her single, "I Did Something Bad."Dressed in a sequined one-piece, Swift strutted the stage with her dancers to the delight of the audience. And, of course, there was a giant snake -- an emblem Swift has made her own after #TaylorSwiftIsASnake became a thing a few years ago as a diss against the singer.Tuesday marked Swift's first live awards show performance in three years. The superstar made headlines in recent days after she endorsed Tennessee Democrats Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper and encouraged her followers to register to vote.Swift said that while she had been "reluctant" to voice her political opinions in the past, "due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now.""I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country," Swift said. "I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG. "Vote.org?reported that voter registration spiked after Swift's posting. 1320
