SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A simple move across the city could bring San Diegans more help when it comes to finding a job.Monday, the San Diego Workforce Partnership relocated from its longtime office in City Heights to a new headquarters in Kearny Mesa. The partnership expects to save 0,000 in rent this year and million over the next fifteen years."That's more staffing, more services for job seekers, and more outreach to employers," said Peter Callstrom, the Workforce Partnership's CEO. "To save money is the big deal because we want to keep costs low and fund programs."San Diego Unified bought the partnership's old office, getting them out of a long term, expensive lease. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – All known fires aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard at Naval Base San Diego have been put out, Navy officials announced Thursday afternoon.In a statement, Rear Adm. Philip Sobeck, the commander of Expeditionary Strike Group Three, said:“After four days of firefighting, all known fires have been extinguished aboard USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6).Our fire teams are investigating every space to verify the absence of fire. Until every space is checked and there are no active fires we will not be able to commence any official investigations.We did not know the origin of the fire. We do not know the extent of the damage. It is too early to make any predictions or promises of what the future of the ship will be.We cannot make any conclusions, until the investigation is complete.What we do know is that brave Sailors from commands all across San Diego worked tirelessly alongside Federal Firefighters to get this fire extinguished and I want to thank them for their efforts. This was a Navy team effort. We had support from the air and sea. Three helicopter squadrons conducted more than 1,500 water bucket drops, fighting the fire and cooling the super structure and flight deck enabling fire crews to get onboard to fight the fire. Tugs also provided firefighting support from the waterline, cooling the ship’s hull.We had 63 personnel, 40 U.S. Navy Sailors and 23 civilians, treated for minor injuries including heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation. We have no personnel hospitalized.The Navy continues to work together with regulators, county and state in protecting our environment and preparing to address the community’s concerns as we move forward to the next phase.I’d like to thank our partners from state and county, the U.S. Coast Guard, and all agencies for continued support.”Ship’s shifting leads to evacuationCrews battling the fire aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard were evacuated late Wednesday night after reported shifting of the warship.A Navy official told ABC 10News that fire teams fighting the blaze were told to clear the ship and pier shortly before 11 p.m. “out of an abundance of caution” after the vessel “naturally settled” due to the fire and water damage and was rocking slightly to one side.By 6 a.m. Thursday, Navy officials said fire crews returned to the ship to continue fighting the fire.Meanwhile, several groups are collecting supplies and other donations for those displaced by the ship fire and crews at the scene. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An Ocean Beach woman was alarmed by a flier taped to her door saying "the antichrist will destroy anyone who worships him." Holly Raines said her 7-year-old son found the flier taped on their front door. “I started reading the letter but I was like half asleep so I started panicking a little bit because it just seemed very threatening and very intense,” Raines said. Several other neighbors say they got one too. The letter stated it was from New Life Christian Chapel, which is a few blocks away from where Raines lives in Ocean Beach. “It was very damning and then it has like a phrase that says ‘The antichrist will destroy anyone who worships him, there is no middle ground,’” she said. Raines said the flier quotes several Bible verses but found them far from comforting. “The words just aren’t very friendly, they talk about slaying lambs and antichrist and unrighteousness,” Raines said. It ended by inviting her to a home Bible study but she can't help but feel like the church crossed a line. “We have a lot of friends that go to church around here and a lot of the community churches here are awesome, they do great things,” Raines said. “The idea of taping anything on somebody’s door is a lot and this is a full document of typing. I mean if anyone wrote me a letter like that I would think it was an angry letter.”10News reached out to New Life Christian Chapel, and Pastor Thomas J. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An orphaned puppy at a local animal rescue will receive a state-of-the-art heart surgery to repair a rare heart murmur.Helen Woodward Animal Center said Tuesday Cowboy, a terrier-blend brought to the center last October, has an irregular heart rhythm, so intense that veterinary staff could actually feel a distinct and loud rumble if their hands were placed on his chest.The puppy was brought into the center with his mother and five siblings, all of whom have found new homes.RELATED: Puppies found abandoned in Escondido park adopted out to new homesSince Cowboy arrived at Helen Woodward, he's been cared for by center staff and a foster owner and administered a medication called Atenolol to take pressure off his heart.“We care deeply about every single orphan pet that comes into our care and go to great lengths to make sure that each one of these wonderful animals has the chance to live a long, healthy and happy life with a loving forever family,” Jennifer Shorey, Helen Woodward Animal Center Director of Operations, said. “When we learned about Cowboy’s unique condition, we didn’t hesitate to find him the expert care he needs.
