SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Border officials say they seized more than .1 million in narcotics in two days at ports of entry in San Diego and Imperial Valley counties.Monday, a 45-year-old Mexican citizen driving a commercial bus was stopped at the San Ysidro port of entry and underwent a secondary screening. A K9 officer detected narcotics in the vehicle's gas tank.Officers found 229 pounds of cocaine, 23 pounds of fentanyl, and more than six pounds of heroin in the gas tank. In a second incident, on Tuesday, agents stopped a 23-year-old U.S. citizen at the Calexico East port of entry and referred them to a secondary screening. The port's imaging system screened the vehicle and noticed an anomoly in the back seat. A K9 officer also made a positive detection.Officers discovered 73 wrapped packages of methamphetamine hidden in the back seat, firewall, glove box, and inside vehicle panels.Later that same day, at the Calexico West port of entry, a 35-year-old Mexican citizen was found to be smuggling narcotics in the same manner.Imaging and a K9 officer detected narcotics, leading officers to find 50 wrapped packaged of methamphetamine inside vehicle panels.CBP officials seized all of the narcotics, valued together at more than .1 million.“Seizing these 400 plus pounds of narcotics is not only about keeping drugs out of our communities,” said Pete Flores, Director of Field Operations for CBP in San Diego. “It’s also about keeping millions of dollars in profits away from transnational criminal organizations, and preventing the ensuing crime and chaos they cause on both sides of the border." 1617

She has cared for patients who have tested positive for COVID19. “I would be lying if I didn’t say it's concerning and every nurse is fearful in going into these patients’ rooms,” Buckingham. “I think every nurse is eventually going to be impacted by these patients and have to take care of a patient under investigation, ruling out if they have it or not, or if they are actually positive.”She said nurses have a wide range of emotions when it comes to the current health crisis.“A lot of nurses that are extremely concerned because maybe they’re pregnant or they have babies at home or they take care of their elderly parents,” Buckingham said. “There’s also been nurses that are like, bring it on. I’ll take what I have to take. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- As the ballot count continues, there’s been an explosion of rumors and misinformation on social media about the integrity of the process.Fact checkers have their hands full with false claims like #Sharpiegate.In this one, people in Arizona’s Maricopa County claimed election workers were up to no good by forcing them to mark ballots with Sharpies, those ballots would be invalid.#Sharpiegate was re-tweeted more than 300,000 times in just a few hours, according to the Election Integrity Project.However, Maricopa County Election officials say Sharpies are absolutely OK.In San Diego County, the Registrar of Voters Office says using a Sharpie will not invalidate a ballot. Even if ink bleeds through, it will not affect ovals on the other side, officials said.John Silva with the News Literacy Project says some of the rumors can be traced to regional differences. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- California's energy operator have issued a statewide Flex Alert ahead of anticipated high temperatures this coming weekend.The California Independent System Operator (ISO) is calling for voluntary electricity conservation, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14."With high temperatures in the forecast, the power grid operator is predicting an increase in electricity demand, primarily from residential air conditioning use," the ISO said in a statement.In San Diego, an Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect from noon Friday until 8pm Monday from the inland areas to the deserts. The heat will peak on Friday and Saturday with temperatures ranging 5 to 15 degrees above normal.The above-normal temperatures and humidity will stick around through most of next week."Consumers are urged to conserve electricity, especially during the late afternoon and early evening, when the grid is most stressed due to higher demand and solar energy production falling.
