Some fall sports at colleges in at least one conference will delay all competitions until September 1.The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Thursday the sports of cross country, field hockey, soccer and volleyball will delay their competitive matches for men’s and women’s teams. Typically, exhibition or non-conference games would take place in August.“The decision allows each campus to further focus on ensuring return to competition protocols are in place to facilitate the resocialization process,” the statement reads. The ACC includes Duke, Boston College, University of Notre Dame, Syracuse, Clemson University, FLorida State, University of Louisville, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Pittsburgh, Virginia and Virginia Tech. The statement from the conference makes no mention of other sports, including football. However, it does say the league is continuing their discussions and there “may be future changes.” 982

Since restaurants opened their doors to dine-in service, you may have noticed several different steps taken to create as safe as possible environment in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. One of the ways is changing the way customers decide on their orders as they prepare to dine out, reports Denver7. Now, when you walk in to many restaurants you'll find a QR code on tables or at the front door.Just by putting your phone’s camera over that code, the restaurants menu pops up.President and CEO of SpeedPro, Larry Oberly, said the plan wasn’t to release this technology this year. The coronavirus sped up the process."We have set up signage outside and in the waiting area to get into the restaurant where the patron can see that they can actually download the menus onto their phones and then once they go to the tables they can go ahead and pull those menus up."General Manager at Cherry Cricket Ballpark, Samantha Taxin, said the way for people to pull up their menus is a success so far."It’s a safer way to pull up the digital menu. I’m barely printing menus so it seems to be really working for the public, to be able to pull that up. We have a few fresh ones that we print every day but we really haven’t had to use any," Taxin said. Some will call it a fad but for many restaurants, it’s technology that’s here to stay. This story originally reported by Ivan Rodriguez on thedenverchannel.com. 1413

ST LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. — They’re not giving up until they get answers. On Wednesday, glioblastoma patients and families who have had loved ones with the deadly brain cancer in St. Lucie County, met with officials from the Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie County.READ MORE: St. Lucie County Glioblastoma CoverageIt was their first time meeting together since the health department revealed there is not a high number of glioblastoma cases in the county. That was determined after a five-week review of the state’s cancer registry from 1996 to 2015. The research focused on looking at the demographics of the area to determine how many new cases are to be expected each year in the county.Health officials determined St. Lucie County should see an average of 10 cases per year. The registry does not, however, have data yet for 2016 or 2017.Scripps station WPTV in West Palm Beach collected information from viewers who have glioblastoma or know of someone with glioblastoma in St. Lucie County to help provide some data for those two years. For now, 2016 appears to have at least 15 cases diagnosed in St. Lucie County, according to WPTV.  In 2017, it appears there were 11 cases from people who came forward with their information. The information is not medically verified, but has been given to the department of health in St. Lucie County by WPTV’s Meghan McRoberts to further investigate. The Health department said though the 2016 and 2017 numbers might be higher than the average of 10 cases, there is not a set formula for what number would be considered ’too high'. It would take further research.People like Lenny Schelin, Jr. who are battling glioblastoma, were glad to hear the health department is still going to look into the local glioblastoma cases, regardless of the state data showing there is not a high local rate of the cancer.“There’s still a lot of unknowns,” Schelin, Jr. said. He said he knows the number from the state’s cancer registry has some potential flaws. For example, it does not account for people who lived in St. Lucie County but were diagnosed with glioblastoma out of state.“Too many people moved. Too many people get diagnosed somewhere else. Just too many variables,” Schelin, Jr. said. The Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie County Administrator Clint Sperber, also noted the information from the state’s cancer registry does not look at specific addresses to evaluate exactly how close together the patients live. That’s an issue to Kim Hart, whose mother is battling the disease.“Finding out a younger person is going through it a mile from us… it’s unfair,” Hart said. Other patients’ families said some cases are on the same block and street.Kevin Perry, Jr.’s dad is also battling GBM.“They’re not here. They’re not looking at, 'Oh, five people within a small little area.' They’re just looking at numbers,” Perry, Jr. said. But that’s where the local health department can step in and take a closer look at the proximity of the cases. The glioblastoma of St. Lucie County support group is also committed to doing its own research to have the best possible chance of getting answers.“We have a lot more work to do,” Hart said.“It’s terrifying. I wonder if I’m sitting around waiting for something to happen to me or someone close to me or anybody in this area, like, if something’s causing it, I’m just very adamant that they need to figure it out,” Perry Jr. said. 3449

SOLANA BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - Solana Beach is one of San Diego County's most expensive places to live, but it has no affordable housing. Now, the City Council may pursue turning a part of the City Hall parking lot into a 19-unit mixed-use affordable housing complex. The council could vote Wednesday to issue a request for proposals for development of the site, with the hopes of selecting a company to build it by September. City Hall, by the way, is across the street from steps that lead to its famous beaches. "It'd be like winning the lottery," said Christian McDonough, one of the hundreds of people who work in Solana Beach's tourist-facing businesses, but can't afford to live there. "If you're in the service industry, you're most likely not living in Solana Beach."This would be the city's second attempt to add affordable housing. In 2014, the council approved a 10-unit complex called The Pearl, down the block from City Hall. It is still awaiting financing after surviving a legal challenge, developer Ginger Hitzke said.Richard Earle, who rented a blufftop condo for more than a month, said he supports the idea of affordable housing, but said it wouldn't solve the larger problem."It's going to turn into a gong show for 5,000 applicants and we're going to say, here's the lucky 20," Earle said. Zillow reports that the average rent in Solana Beach is ,837 a month, up 4.7 percent from a year ago.    1459
