(KGTV) — A 0,000 truck belonging to DJ Marshmellow was stolen Wednesday before the suspect led authorities on a pursuit from Malibu to the San Fernando Valley and crashed.California Highway Patrol said the suspect was seen driving on the wrong side of Malibu Canyon Rd. around 9:40 p.m. and led CHP officers on a chase along eastbound 101 Freeway. Eventually, the suspect exited the freeway in Sherman Oaks, before traveling into Van Nuys.The suspect drove through the parking lot of a Taco Bell restaurant, before crashing the truck into a light pole near the intersection of Coldwater Canyon Ave. and Vanowen St. at about 10:10 p.m. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Edward Cruz, surrendered peacefully to CHP after crashing. He was booked on suspicion of grand theft auto and felony evading police, according to the Los Angeles Times. (KGTV and CNN) - President Trump will visit California next week, said White House press secretary Sarah Sanders at a briefing Wednesday. Sources familiar with Trump's plans say he is expected to tour the US-Mexico border to look at border wall prototypes in the San Diego area. The eight 30-foot tall prototypes are located near the existing wall in Otay Mesa.The President and White House have been looking to schedule a trip to the border "for a while," one source said. Trump has not visited California since he was sworn into office, though Vice President Mike Pence did a lucrative fundraising swing through the state in October.White House press secretary Sarah Sanders confirmed Trump is traveling to California next week but did not provide more specific details. 795

(KGTV) -- A strong warning from the mother of a La Jolla teenager injured in a deadly car crash on the way to Coachella.10News spoke with Eva Cerciello at the hospital where her daughter is recovering. Doctors have taken out her feeding tube and she is now awake.Sadly, her cousin was killed in the crash while the driver walked away with minor injuries. Cerciello says she’s been relying on prayers and positive thinking for strength.As more San Diegans head to Indio for weekend two of the Coachella music festival,Cerciello has a harsh warning that they shouldn’t put themselves in danger.She nearly lost her daughter last week. “She's like a miracle,” Cerciello said. Manuela Cerciello-Rahbari, 16, suffered severe brain damage when the BMW she was in with her cousin and a friend who was driving veered off the road.They slammed into two trees on I-10, 40 miles away from the festival. “Their main goal was to be there at 7 a.m.,” Cerciello said.They left around 3 a.m., but never made it. “The driver fell asleep while driving. They were both asleep, my niece and my daughter,” she said.Cerciello says she even called to warn them. “If you're tired, you need to stop. You don't keep on going,” she said. “You can’t challenge your body.”Their car was part of a caravan with friends and Cerciello feels peer pressure played a deadly role. “I know the kids were texting ‘speed up, speed up’ because we have all the messages.” Now, she's passing along her own message to other parents and their children.“Parents, they think ‘Don't drink. Don't drive. Don't do drugs…and everything will be fine.’ No, not everything will be fine,” Cerciello said.To be clear.. no drugs or alcohol were involved the crash, but she just wants people to see the reality of poor-decision making-- and says be smart.“You will never have the same life again. Never. Never. Because even if physically you are ok, psychologically you will never be the same.”While Cerciello knows her daughter's future is unclear... “I need to be strong. If I'm not strong, who's gonna be strong?”She doesn't want anyone else to experience her pain. (KGTV and ABC) - A Pittsburgh dad who is working three jobs gave his daughter the dress of her dreams for her eighth-grade dance in a viral video.14-year-old Nevaeha Smith found a dress she loved for her eighth-grade dance at Ringgold Middle School in Monongahela, Pennsylvania, but realized that at 0, it might be too expensive."I said, 'Mom, dad, I want this dress,'" Nevaeha told ABC News. "Is it in our price range?""I looked at the price and I was like, 'Uh, not really sure, but I can see what I can do,'" said Ricky Smith, Nevaeha's father.Ricky works at McDonald’s, Popeye’s, and a Circle K convenience store to make ends meet. To earn enough for the dress, he worked extra shifts; occasionally working seven days a week.When Ricky saved enough money, he broke the news to Nevaeha's mom, Kelly Anne."She said, 'Why don’t you surprise her?'" said Ricky.
