TULSA, Okla. - Archaeologists said during a press conference on Tuesday that they have encountered human remains on day two of the second test excavation as they search for victims of the 1921 Tulsa race massacre. Archaeologists said they do not know if the remains are from 1921 or not. That investigation began in 2020 with crews conducting their search along the western edge of the cemetery. Archaeologists conducted extensive test excavations and concluded with no evidence of human remains.However, the search could continue beyond Oaklawn Cemetery. Researchers said several areas are still candidates for possible mass grave sites related to the 1921 Tulsa race massacre. Tropical Storm Beta has made landfall on the Gulf Coast of Texas, bringing heavy rain and threats of flooding to the Lone Star state. At least two dozen water rescues were reported in Houston early Tuesday morning. Shawn Takeuchi.The man described the boy, named Johnny Diaz, as a Hispanic child, 4 feet tall, wearing a white shirt and “Transformers” pajama pants."Detectives contacted the California Highway Patrol to put out an Amber Alert in an effort to find the boy," said Takeuchi.Oceanside Police Department officers located the vehicle and Rahimi near the Aliso Creek Rest Area but the child was not with Rahimi."SDPD officers took custody of Rahimi and transported him to SDPD headquarters along with the man who made the report, and the Amber Alert was cancelled," said Takeuchi.Takeuchi said they conducted numerous interviews and determined that no child was involved. TUCSON, ARIZ. — A U.S. Deputy Marshal died in the line of duty on Thursday in a shooting with a suspect.The Marshal was serving an active felony warrant around 5:30 p.m. for 26-year-old Ryan Schlesinger for stalking law enforcement when the marshal was shot on scene.The Tucson Police Department confirmed that the fallen marshal was not alone at the scene and was with other officers.After the shooting occurred, police officers responded by sending units to the scene and surrounding the house.Schlesinger surrendered to police and per the Tucson Police Department, was not injured and brought into custody without incident.The Marshal was rushed with the hospital but died from injuries.The Tucson Police Department is not releasing the name of the fallen marshal at this time, but U.S. Marshal David Gonzales, who serves the district of Arizona, is at the hospital with personnel.The department is working with federal agencies to investigate the situation and is offering their deep condolences to the marshal's family. 1032
