NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio — Sometimes police get really strange calls. Such was the case for officers in North Ridgeville, Ohio, who received a call from a man who said while walking home from a train station, a pig started following him, and he didn't know what to do.Thinking he had just left the bar in Elyria named the Train Station, police went out to pick up the caller, who they believed was drunk.When officers arrived, they found the man stone-cold sober, complete with his four-legged stalker in tow.According to authorities, the man told them he was walking home from an Amtrak station when the animal decided to go for a walk with him.In the end, the pig was very cooperative and was placed in the back of a police cruiser and taken to the station. Police made the animal feel at home for a bit inside the department's dog kennels until the owner was notified, and it was picked up.Authorities didn't say if the owner was cited for having a pig on the loose.  1021

Nine West Holdings, which owns the Nine West and Anne Klein brands, has filed for bankruptcy.Friday's chapter 11 filing shows that the company owes more than billion.Nine West said in a statement that it plans to sell Nine West and its Bandolino line to Authentic Brands Group. ABG owns Juicy Couture and Aéropostale, among others.The company's eponymous brand and Bandolino both sell women's shoes, handbags and accessories.Ralph Schipani, the struggling retailer's CEO, said that the restructuring will help the company reduce debt and increase growth by allowing it to focus on its stronger brands, like Anne Klein and One Jeanswear Group."This is the right step," Schipani said. "We will retain our strong, profitable and growing apparel, jewelry, and jeanswear businesses." He added that the changes should help the company to "be well positioned for the future."Nine West said it expects to continue operating normally during the bankruptcy process.The company, which has been owned by Sycamore Partners Management since 2014, joins a growing list of retailers that have filed for bankruptcy this year. Claire's filed for bankruptcy last month, and Toys "R" Us in September. The toy seller said recently that it is closing or selling all of its US stores.Last year, more than 7,000 stores closed, which set a record.Retailers have been struggling to compete with online retailers like Amazon, and suffering from the death of the mall. New research shows women are more optimistic about aging and retirement than ever.Jane Lafave is using retirement to follow her passion. She volunteers at a refugee resettlement agency, making sure people are prepared when applying for jobs.Ironically, it took her leaving her job, to be able to do this.“My whole career really was balancing my children and my husband, you know, my work and all that kind of thing,” Lafave says.Lafave spent decades working as a certified public accountant, and she retired at the age of 57.“It was just time,” she says. “I needed more time and space in my life to do things other than work.That led her to the Ignatian Volunteer Corps, which placed her at the African Community Center.For two days a week, she helps refugees adjust to life in a new country.“This is just a great gift for me to serve other people who have had a much harder life than I’ve had,” Lafave says.Lafave isn't alone.A new survey from TD Ameritrade found women are increasingly viewing their retirement years with optimism.“The Women and Aging Survey” found 62 percent of women said retirement will be, "the most liberating phase of my life," and 72 percent said after years of focusing on others, aging finally gives them an, "opportunity to focus on myself." Eighty-three percent said aging provides a fresh chance to "reach new goals."Nearly 9 of 10 women surveyed said, 'it's important to me to retain a sense of higher purpose as I age.“I feel that this is my time in life to give back,” Lafave says.That's what she is doing here.“I think that's one of the gifts of age is that we've become much more aware of purpose and the time is short and we need to use it.” 1686
