San Diego (KGTV) One plate at a time, a San Diego couple is hoping to help those living on the streets with no food to eat. They’re using their new food trailer to do just that. ‘#FeedingEveryone’ is the goal for the Duwara Consciousness Foundation. “Our foundation is about serving anyone and everyone,” says co-founder Harisimran Khalsa. Through donations from the community, couple Davinder and Harisimran were able to purchase a food trailer to help feed the homeless. The couple says they’re committed to helping others. They left their jobs, sold businesses, and are now living a simpler lifestyle. “When your passionate about something, you have to live the life of and see how it is,” says Davinder Singh. “We decided that we would give up the house that we were living in.”The 16-foot trailer is equipped with a griller, 2 part stove, refrigeration and prep space. Every food item made is plant-based. Donations and volunteers strictly power the organization. They are serving at least two locations every week. They hope to grow the non-profit and eventually purchase a shower bus for the homeless.  The organization has partnered with the Jewish Family Service to feed the homeless on Thursdays and Fill-A-Belly to serve those in need on Tuesdays. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Pacific Gas & Electric says it's going forward with the second planned power shut-off this week because of growing winds and high fire danger in Northern California.The utility says blackouts will begin around 2 p.m. Saturday in parts of 36 counties. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- San Diego County barely avoided falling back into the purple tier of the state’s reopening system, staying in the red for now.The color-coded tier system has been difficult for many business owners to deal with as they wonder if they will face more restrictions in the coming weeks.“We are working with the state to share our concerns and thoughts about the metrics they are using to put our county in the different tiers,” said Greg Cox, San Diego County Supervisor. "The reality is we remain at risk of being moved to the more restrictive tier in the future if we don’t do those things that we know we need to do.”Dr. Wilma Wooten, the county’s public health officer, said she and other health officers across the state have been pushing for the state to improve its metrics system to go beyond case rate and positivity rate.She would like to see three things happen.“If counties are maintaining hospitalizations and hospital capacities to somehow get credit for that, and also get credit for contact tracing,” she said.Wooten said the county should also get credit for providing access to COVID-19 testing in vulnerable communities hit the hardest.“San Diego has done an excellent job to date of getting access to testing in those communities that are hit the hardest,” she said.On Tuesday, the County Board of Supervisors passed a motion in a 4 to 1 vote to send a letter to the state backing Wooten’s effort in revising the reopening criteria.Wooten is urging members of the public to continue wearing a facial covering, washing hands, avoiding large gatherings, and staying home when sick, especially as flu season is on the way.“We do not have a vaccine for COVID-19, but we have a vaccine for the flu,” she said. “Getting the flu vaccine is the most important step in preventing the flu.” 1822

SAN DIEGO COUNTY (KGTV)-- County supervisors announced that we are just days away until San Diegans can finally relax on the beach.But some are jumping the gun.It was the announcement San Diegans were waiting for."On Tuesday, June 2, passive activities will be allowed on beaches, so long as groups stay within their household units, social distance from other non-family members, and facial coverings," San Diego County Supervisor, Greg Cox announced on Thursday.Supervisors said sitting on the sand, towels, and chairs will be allowed. But sports such as football and volleyball will continue to be prohibited. Parking lots and piers will also remain closed. However, many people seemed to forget about the start date: Tuesday, June 2.On the evening of the County announcement, a 10News viewer witnessed a graduation party in Oceanside. The photos showed a mass gathering with many people sitting on the sand, with almost no one practicing social distancing or wearing masks. "I'm sure everybody is anxious to get out with their family, sit on the beach and enjoy the nice weather," Solana Beach visitor, Labib Samarrai said. But on Saturday, most people seemed to be following the rules at Solana Beach."I think everybody is now maybe over-educated, but it's all good," Samarrai said. Lifeguards at Solana Beach and Pacific Beach say they are still focused on educating the public, instead of actively ticketing visitors who disregard the County Public Health order. "They're only telling people that are not where they want them," Pacific Beach surfer Jake Curran said. For Curran, the passive activity phase does not make much of a difference in his usual routine. But for his girlfriend, June 2 can't come soon enough. "She has been visiting for the past month, trying to find activities for her and I to do while she is in town," Curran said.
