HOOVER, Ala. (AP) — Police in Alabama on Saturday were searching for a gunman whom they believe was responsible for shooting two teenagers at a shopping mall on Thanksgiving night.The incident began with a fight and shooting in suburban Birmingham at the Riverchase Galleria, a mall crowded with Black Friday bargain hunters. An 18-year-old was shot twice and a 12-year-old bystander was shot in the back.An officer responding to the scene then shot and killed 21-year-old Emantic Fitzgerald Bradford, Jr. of Hueytown. Police said Bradford was fleeing the scene and was brandishing a weapon.Police initially told reporters they thought Bradford had shot the teen after a fight but retracted that statement Friday night."New evidence now suggests that while Mr. Bradford may have been involved in some aspect of the altercation, he likely did not fire the rounds that injured the 18-year-old victim," Hoover Police Captain Gregg Rector said in a statement.Police said they "regret that our initial media release was not totally accurate."Rector said investigators now believe that more than two people were involved in the initial fight ahead of the shooting, and that "at least one gunman" is still at large who could be responsible for the shooting of an 18-year-old male and 12-year-old female.Video posted on social media by shoppers showed a chaotic scene as shoppers fled the mall, which closed for the remainder of Thursday night.The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has taken the lead role in the investigation since it is an officer-involved shooting.Hoover police asked for anyone with information, photos or video evidence of this crime scene to please contact investigators.A witness, Lexi Joiner, told Al.com she was shopping with her mother when the gunfire started. Joiner said she heard six or seven shots and was ordered, along with some other shoppers, into a supply closet for cover."It was terrifying," Joiner said.A woman who described herself as the mother of the injured 12-year-old posted on social media that the girl was on a Black Friday shopping trip with other family members when the shooting happened, and didn't immediately realize that the pain in her back was from a bullet."She was hurting a lot, but very brave and positive as always," the mother wrote after seeing the girl when she arrived at a hospital.Hoover police said Friday morning that the girl was in stable condition.The officer who shot the gunman was placed on administrative leave while the authorities investigate the shooting. The officer's name was not released. The officers were not hurt.The Riverchase Galleria mall bills itself as the largest enclosed shopping center in Alabama, with more than 150 stores. 2718

(CNS) - Another prominent filmmaker was accused Wednesday of extensive sexual misconduct.In interviews with the Los Angeles Times, actress Natasha Henstridge and five other women accused director and producer Brett Ratner of a range of sexual harassment and misconduct in private homes, on movie sets or at industry events.Ratner, through his lawyer, denied all the allegations, which included forcing women to perform sex acts and pleasuring himself in front of them."I have represented Mr. Ratner for two decades, and no woman has ever made a claim against him for sexual misconduct or sexual harassment," Singer said in a 10-page letter to The Times. "Furthermore, no woman has ever requested or received any financial settlement from my client."Ratner has become one of Hollywood's most powerful players, directing, producing or financing dozens of today's biggest box-office hits, including "Rush Hour," "X-Men: The Last Stand," "The Revenant" and "Horrible Bosses," according to The Times.Now 48, Ratner has long flaunted his playboy persona, bragging publicly about his sexual prowess, according to The Times. The Los Angeles Police Department has announced it is investigating a sexual assault allegation against Weinstein. That allegation was made by an Italian model-actress who claims Weinstein raped her in 2013 at a hotel while she was in town for an Italian film festival.Police in New York and London have said they are investigating allegations of sexual assault involving Weinstein as well.As for Toback, 38 women recently emerged to report years of perverted and creepy behavior by the director whose credits include "The Pick-up Artist" and "Black & White." Health officials in Maryland have reported two more cases of severe bleeding problems in people who used synthetic marijuana.That brings the state's total to three patients so far.It's known as K2 or spice and can be sold as liquids for use in E-cigarettes.It has caused bleeding in more than 100 others in at least four other states. GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) — A Florida sheriff says he will deputize every gun owner in his county to put down any violent protests his deputies can’t handle alone.Clay County Sheriff Darryl Daniels gave no indication in a three-minute video released Wednesday that any demonstrations are planned in his suburban Jacksonville county.Daniels also said he would protect any peaceful protests, but added that if anyone starts “tearing up Clay County, that is not going to be acceptable.”“If we can’t handle you, I’ll exercise the power and authority as the sheriff and I’ll make special deputies of every lawful gun owner in the county and I’ll deputize them to this one purpose: to stand in the gap between lawlessness and civility,” said Daniels, sporting a white cowboy hat as he stood in front of 18 deputies.Daniels, who is African American, said in the video that his department has a “great relationship” with its residents, but “if you come to Clay County and think for one second we’ll bend our backs for you, you’re sadly mistaken.”“The second you step out from up under the protection of the Constitution, we’ll be waiting on you and give you everything you want: all the publicity, all the pain, all the glamour and glory for all that five minutes will give you.”Daniels, a Republican finishing his first term, is being challenged by six opponents in the upcoming election. He is under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement after his former employer, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, announced last year that he’d had an affair with a co-worker when he was running its jails.
