CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- As the Sweetwater Union High School District deals with financial trouble totaling tens of millions of dollars, employees are starting to feel the impact. At least 300 employees with the district opted for early retirement, some of whom retired this December. Peter Bishop has worked for the district for more than 17 years as a math and science teacher. The offer comes as the district figures out how to deal with financial woes. (KGTV) - Extra security officers are in place at Eastlake High School in Chula Vista Friday due to confusion over a school threat at a similarly named school near Tampa, Florida.Pinellas County, Fla. deputies found an unspecific threat written on a wall of a girl’s bathroom at East Lake High School in Tarpon Springs Thursday, according to TampaBay.com. The threat, which was also posted on Snapchat, warned students not to come to school Friday.Word of the Florida threat spread on San Diego County social media pages Thursday night, according to Sweetwater Union High School District spokesperson Manuel Rubio.There is no credible threat to Eastlake High School, Rubio said.As a precaution, the local school added extra security officers on campus Friday.  Families also received an automated phone call Friday morning to reassure them the campus was safe, according to Rubio.The written threat to Florida's East Lake High School has also been deemed not credible, said Pinellas County Sgt. (KGTV) -- The Sweetwater Union High School District Board voted Wednesday to cut more than 220 educators and place its beleaguered superintendent on paid leave.Staff cuts include educators and all librarians. She earned her doctorate degree in education from San Diego State University in 2010, according to her professional online profile. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Frustration is growing after a second fire broke out at the Teresina Apartments in Chula Vista on Sunday night. Witnesses tell 10News they saw a group of teens playing in the park near the apartments and a few minutes later they noticed the fire. William Maher lives in the apartment complex. He tells 10News he was the one who made the call to the fire department. Maher says the teens were recording the flames and laughing. He says they ran away when he yelled at him. The fire was so close to the apartments that the heat shattered several windows and melted window blinds.Sunday night's fire is the second fire in less than three weeks in that same area. On October 25th, fire crews responded to a fire just feet away. Maher hopes police will find the teens before someone gets hurt. He's also hoping parents look through their teen's phones to see if they can find the videos that were recorded. Anyone with information is asked to call the Chula Vista Police.  1050
