(KGTV) — Border officials say 19 people were arrested after a panga boat was intercepted off the coast of Dana Point in Orange County on Friday.Crews say just before 1 a.m., U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials spotted a single-engine panga boat traveling out of Mexican waters with no lights and with multiple people on board. The boat was monitored moving north, until about 3:30 .m., when CBP officials directed San Diego units to the boat's location about 11 nautical miles west of Dana Point.Nineteen people, 18 adults males and one adult female who all claimed to be Mexican nationals, were taken into custody, CBP says. They were all turned over to Border Patrol for processing.“This interception exemplifies the unique air and sea coordination, vigilance and law enforcement capabilities of our highly skilled interdiction agents in keeping our coastal border safe,” Timothy Sutherland, with Marine Operations San Diego Air and Marine Branch, said. “The combination of expertise, technology and training were the key for the success of this operation.” 1076

(KGTV) - Caltrans announced freeway closures on I-5, I-15 and SR-163 to do road work this month.SR-163State Route 163 will have closures in Mission Valley starting Monday night. Residents and businesses may hear jackhammering and truck back-up alarms.All lanes of north 163 will be closed between I-8 and Genessee Avenue Monday, Tuesday and possibly Wednesday nights 11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.The Genessee on-ramp to north 163 will remain open. Other drivers will be detoured to I-8 and I-805. INTERSTATE 15I-15 will be closed at SR-76 in Escondido during daytime hours Tuesday. (KGTV) — California is taking its time before issuing guidance to allow the state's theme parks to reopen during the coronavirus pandemic.Wednesday, Gov. Gavin Newsom said the state was not planning to issue such guidance soon, despite reports last week that rules that would allow the shuttered locations to reopen would be issued soon.Disney Chairman Bob Iger recently left the state's economic recovery task force, an early indication that business leaders for the industry could be at odds with the state over reopening. According to the Associated Press, Erin Guerrero, executive director of the California Attractions and Parks Association, said amusement park leaders wanted changes to a proposed draft they reviewed this month."There’s disagreements in terms of opening a major theme park. We’re going to let science and data make that determination," Newsom said, adding that he wasn't "surprised at all" that Iger left.Newsom said the state is continuing to work with the industry and would approach theme parks with a "health-first" framework, but was not in a hurry to release rules."We are going to be led by a health-first framework and we’re going to be stubborn about it," Newsom said. "That’s our commitment — that’s our resolve. We feel there’s no hurry putting out guidelines."He added that working to put out appropriate rules would depend on local data."It’s very complex. These are like small cities, small communities, small towns. (KGTV) — California has released guidance on allowing outdoor services, like religious services and protests, amid the coronavirus pandemic.Initially, the state released guidance for indoor religious services to be held at 25% capacity or 100 people, whichever is less. San Diego Supervisor Nathan Fletcher said Monday that the guidance has been expanded to not only outdoor religious services, but cultural services, constitutionally-protected activities, and weddings provided physical distancing is practiced."That remains in place for indoor services, but they have expanded that outdoor services can occur provided that they can maintain physical distance between individuals. So they're allowing whatever the natural surroundings allow for provided that you can physically distance between individuals.
