POWAY, Calif., (KGTV)-- Fire crews battled a house fire in Poway Sunday afternoon after neighbors heard hissing sounds and an explosion. Poway and San Diego Fire departments responded to the 13,000 block of Silver Saddle Lane after getting a 9-1-1 call at around 1:15 pm. When crews arrived, they found the side of the home on fire. "The fire was just on the garage and the exterior of the garage. It appears it did not make it into the house," Poway Fire Battalion Chief Ray Fried said. Batt. Chief Fried said the methane levels were too high, above 0 ppm, which meant his fire crews needed to stand down until SDG&E cleared the gas leak. "We're not going inside at this time, because the gas readings are fairly high inside the house," Batt. Chief Fried said. No one was inside the home at the time of the explosion. (KGTV) -- A rope is being blamed for December’s weeklong boil water advisory in Poway, according to a newly-released report.The report says a surge in storm water caused a backflow in the system. A rope stuck inside a gate designed to keep water out of the reservoir allowed the storm water to seep into the area. As a result of the incident, the affected section of the reservoir had to be disinfected and refilled. RELATED: Inspection found 12 flaws in Poway's water delivery systemA boil water was issued November 30 and canceled December 6 as a result of the contamination. The advisory was issued after residents reported brownish water coming from their faucets on November 29. The report also goes into detail about what is being done as a result of the advisory. President Donald Trump has told advisers that Heather Nauert, the State Department spokeswoman, is his leading choice to become U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and he could offer the post as soon as this week, two sources familiar with his pick told CNN.If named, Nauert, who met with Trump Monday, would leave her role at the State Department to take over for Nikki Haley, who surprised White House officials last month when she announced her decision to step down at the end of the year.People close to the President cautioned that his pick is not final until it is formally announced.
