TORONTO, Canada (KGTV) - Incredible dash cam video shows tires flying after a car hit a tow truck Saturday on a Toronto, Canada highway.The camera attached to Adil Kanan’s tow truck was recording the moments Kanan stepped out to help three people in a disabled pickup truck."They seemed to be all alert and fine," he told CTV Toronto.RELATED: Tow truck driver seriously injured in crash on SR-125Karan returned to his truck to alert police that his vehicle and a truck were blocking one lane of the freeway."As I was sitting there looking through my back window, that's when I observed the white Lexus approaching at a high rate of speed," he said.The white vehicle hit the pickup truck, sending debris flying.RELATED: Bear opens door, steals from car in Lake TahoeOne of the pickup truck’s passengers had been standing outside the truck and was thrown into the guardrail.Two people inside the truck were ejected, and the driver ended up face-down on the highway. There's an unusually high volume of birds in the state right now, and the Department of Natural Resources says spring migration has come to a halt due to the snow.This stop has forced larger crowds to Wisconsin feeders. The DNR counted nearly 300 at bird feeders near La Crosse. Senior ecologist Don Quintenz at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center has seen a higher volume of birds are at the center. If the weather stays like this, he says, birds could be in trouble. "A lot of dead birds," says Quintenz, "Freezing temperatures for a couple days straight, that could be very hard on a population."Amateur Naturalist Judith Huf has studied ornithology for years and says some birds will make sacrifices while others will make due. But she does help them out by keeping her bird feeder full. "Some of them will do a little reverse migration...It's a little nicer in Illinois. It's not snowing down there and [the birds] can get food...Robins have been coming to eat bird seed out of the feeder. They don't normally eat bird seed, that's not normal behavior for a robin," said Huf. DNR says this weather creates a lose-lose situation for the birds. Since their food is either buried in the snow or frozen solid, especially tree sap or insects, scavenging is difficult.Additionally, the birds can't go elsewhere to find food because the frigid cold is blocking the warm northbound currents. This week marks Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, and according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 3.6 million Americans face a risk of lead poisoning from lead-based house paint.The CDC says that even low levels of lead in the bloodstream can cause cognitive impairment in children that is irreversible.“As we observe National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, we urge people to take action,” said Patrick Breysse, PhD, CIH, Director of CDC’s National Center for Environmental Health. “Together, we can eliminate childhood lead poisoning as a public health problem by strengthening blood lead testing, reporting, and surveillance, while linking exposed children to recommended services. CDC is committed to help address this threat and improve health outcomes for our nation’s most vulnerable citizens – our children.”The CDC is encouraging parents to get their children’s lead levels checked by a doctor.
