A tweet by the Girl Scouts congratulating new Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett drew such outrage from Barrett’s critics that the youth organization swiftly deleted it. That then sparked a new backlash from Barrett’s supporters. The original tweet was posted Wednesday evening. It said, “Congratulations Amy Coney Barrett on becoming the 5th woman appointed to the Supreme Court since its inception in 1789.” The post featured an image of Barrett, who was confirmed Monday and sworn in at the court on Tuesday; along with currently serving justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor; former Justice Sandra Day O’Connor; and Barrett’s predecessor, the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.The post was quickly attacked by critics who view Barrett, a conservative, as a potential threat to civil liberties and women’s rights.“What kind of patch does one earn for uplifting a woman who is the antithesis of justice?” tweeted U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass.As the online criticism mounted, the Girl Scouts deleted their original tweet and posted a new statement.“Earlier today, we shared a post highlighting the five women who have been appointed to the Supreme Court. It was quickly viewed as a political and partisan statement which was not our intent and we have removed the post.... Girl Scouts of the USA is a nonpolitical, nonpartisan organization. We are neither red nor blue, but Girl Scout GREEN. A new lawsuit says a woman who tried on lipstick at a Sephora cosmetics store in Hollywood, California got herpes from the sample.The unidentified woman claims it happened at the store in October 2015, according to a report by TMZ. She ended up with herpes on her lip and says she never had it before the visit to the store.The documents say the store failed to clearly warn the woman of the risk of getting a disease from using samples of lipstick there.The lawsuit says the woman is suing over the emotional distress for getting an "incurable lifelong affliction." Sephora did not respond to the TMZ article, but a spokesperson for the retailer did respond to Fashionista, saying the health and safety of its customers is a priority. A video of a proposal from a Michigan couple is going viral for all of the wrong reasons after the woman's son dropped his pants and peed mid proposal.According to WNEM, Kevin Przytula brought his girlfriend, Allyssa, to Bay City over the weekend to propose.When he dropped to one knee, Allyssa's son dropped his pants and couldn't hold it any longer, peeing right in the shot.The couple didn't even notice until the person behind the camera giggled and got their attention."Oh my God he's peeing," Przytula said.As of Monday afternoon, the video has been viewed more than 3,000 times. 603

A rural Oklahoma school system closed for two days earlier this week after a group of adults made threatening Facebook comments about a 12-year-old transgender girl, Achille Public Schools Superintendent Rick Beene said.The incident began after the student used the middle school girl's bathroom this year at Achille school system in southern Oklahoma, Beene said. In previous years at the district elementary school, she had used the staff bathroom.Two district parents complained about her use of the girl's bathroom in a private Facebook group called "Achille ISD Parents Group," which is not officially affiliated with the school, according to Beene.The threats escalated in severity and number when someone made the Facebook group public, Beene said, and some of the Facebook threats have been traced to other parts of Oklahoma and Texas.According to CNN affiliate KXII, Facebook commenters called the seventh grader, "it" and "thing." One Facebook poster suggested it was open hunting season for transgender people, and others advocated for the 12-year-old to be stabbed or beaten up."That's scary," Brandy Rose, the girl's mother, told KXII. "These are adults making threats to a child. I don't understand it."The Facebook page appears to have since been deleted. Still, Rose said the comments had scared her daughter."She's just an awesome kid.
