Stephen Colbert had plenty to say when it came to the allegations of sexual misconduct against his boss, CBS CEO Les Moonves.Colbert kicked off CBS' "Late Show" on Monday night joking that he heard over the weekend that there was an article about Moonves in the New Yorker, but acted as though he didn't know who wrote it. Once he found out that it was Ronan Farrow, Colbert spat out a sip of a drink he took from a coffee cup."That's not good," Colbert said. "Ronan isn't exactly known for his puff pieces about 'glamping.'"Later in the show, Colbert spoke more about Moonves and the #MeToo movement from his desk."It's strange to have to say this, powerful men taking advantage of relatively powerless employees is wrong," the host said. "We know it's wrong now and we knew it was wrong then. And how do we know we knew it was wrong then? Because we know these men tried to keep the stories from coming out back then."Colbert then said that as a "middle-aged guy with some power in the entertainment industry" he may not be the ideal person to address "this kind of systemic abuse," but that he does "believe in accountability.""Everybody believes in accountability until it's their guy, and make no mistake, Les Moonves is my guy," Colbert said.The host then pointed out how Moonves hired him and has stood by the show."But accountability is meaningless, unless it's for everybody," Colbert added. "Those were mistakes, and I regret them immensely. Starbucks opened the first of its fancy new Reserve stores Tuesday, as it continues battle competition from upscale coffee brands like Blue Bottle and Intelligentsia.The company said the store, which debuted inside its Seattle headquarters, is the first of 1,000 planned Reserve stores.Starbucks described the store concept as "an open, marketplace style" with a Princi bakery counter, a full liquor bar and a Reserve coffee bar, with tables, lounge areas and two fireplaces."Our Reserve store takes the best of coffee craft as well as artisan baking and layers in a marketplace-style customer experience creating a space that has both energy and moments of intimacy," said Liz Muller, senior vice president of Creative, Global Design & Innovation at Starbucks, in a statement.The company said the new products at the Seattle Reserve store include the Nitro Draft Latte, Spiced Ginger Cold Brew and an espresso drink called Bianco Mocha.Starbucks said that its Reserve rollout, which has been in the works since 2016, will also include 20 to 30 new Roasteries, with locations planned for Milan and New York this year, and in Tokyo and Chicago next year. The company said that some of the new Reserve stores will be converted from existing Starbucks stores.The company said it already has dozens of Reserve bars open in existing Starbucks locations. The Reserve bars are different from the Reserve stores. The company said it also plans to open stand-alone Princi stores in Seattle, Chicago and New York.Starbucks has more than 28,000 stores worldwide, according to its latest earnings report in January. Starting today, Walmart employees across the country will receive bonuses up to ,000. A press release states that employees could get a one-time bonus of up to ,000 and a fourth-quarter bonus based on their store's sales performance. Walmart has also expanded its paid leave policy, offering full-time hourly employees 10 weeks of paid maternity leave and six weeks of paid parental leave.  417

The American Red Cross is now checking all blood donations for coronavirus antibodies, instead of just searching for recovered patients. The organization is calling it a ¡°game changer.¡±¡°We can then not only inform that donor of the testing results that we've identified COVID-19 antibodies in their blood, but also use that product as convalescent plasma to help patients who are ill with COVID-19 in the hospital,¡± said Dr. Pampee Young, Chief Medical Officer at the American Red Cross.Early results from the National Institutes for Health show the plasma can make a big difference for severely sick COVID-19 patients. And data from these new tests will help those researchers working to better understand the virus.The Red Cross says the need for whole blood donors is constant, but plasma is more unpredictable.Over the summer, plasma supplies ran low after unprecedented infections and demand in some states.Now, they're asking more donors to step up to restock for another potential surge in the fall and winter.¡°Because we can¡¯t predict the demand, we want to ensure that we have enough inventory, because what really saves lives are the units that are on the shelf, not something that we need to collect once we realize there¡¯s a need,¡± said Young.The Red Cross has taken additional safety steps during the pandemic. The banana phone is back.A startup that licenses the Nokia phone brand has unveiled a new version of the 8110, a curved mobile phone that was first released in 1996 and featured in "The Matrix."The phone, which is offered in banana yellow and black, will sell for €79 (). It comes loaded with a new version of the game Snake, Finnish startup HMD said in a statement."This is a return to the glory years of Nokia," said Ian Fogg, senior analyst at IHS Markit. "But it also includes all the new technology."The 8110 comes with 4G, and a handful of apps including Google Maps, Facebook and Twitter. But it doesn't have a flashy operating system and users won't be able to download other popular apps.Fogg said that basic -- or "feature" -- phones are appealing because they are reliable, and can run for a long time on a single charge. The 8110 goes 25 days in standby mode, for example.Nokia used to be the world's largest maker of mobile phones, but it struggled to adapt to the era of smartphones and compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung.Microsoft purchased the company's handset business in 2013, but later unwound the deal. Nokia now focuses on making technology for telecommunications networks.HMD, which has licensed the Nokia brand since 2016, sold over 70 million handsets in 2017, according to IHS.
