ERIE, Colo. — A woman says the man she met online and dated for a month-and-a-half robbed her of thousands of dollars worth of valuables, tried to pawn them for cash, and then disappeared. Police have now issued a warrant for his arrest.“I let him into my world completely and I was completely betrayed,” Michelle Cohagan said.She met Joshua Law on the site Plenty of Fish. They dated for a few weeks and became close, with Law spending a lot of time at her Erie home. One night, Cohagan noticed that two of her digital cameras and her roommate’s GoPro camera went missing. A few days later, Law disappeared.“I haven’t seen or heard from him,” she said.Law originally told her he had plans to close on a house nearby. Then he claimed he had to fly across the country for a family emergency. The realtor of the home was the one to tell Cohagan that Law wasn’t actually buying the home. That’s when she noticed even more things were gone.“My grandmother’s wedding ring, a mother’s ring, pearls my father had given me,” she said.“She had about ,500 worth of items between her and her roommate that had been stolen,” Erie Police Department Commander Michael Haefele said.Now Erie PD are involved. They’ve been able to track Law and the missing items to multiple local pawn shops.“We were able to get a signed arrest warrant for the suspect in the case,” Haefele said.“He had been taking and pawning my things since pretty much two weeks in,” Cohagan added. “I think he’s a sociopath. I think he’s a con artist.”She said that she’s spoken to at least two other women who say they dated Law. The stories of falling in love and being ripped off were similar.Police do not know where Law is at the moment. The warrant for his arrest is out, and local towns and law enforcement agencies are aware. Meanwhile, they have been able to locate some of Cohagan’s things including her cameras, expensive purses, and a watch. ENCINITAS, Calif. (KGTV) - City leaders in Encinitas plan to ban gas-powered leaf blowers to help curb the effects of climate change.They're hosting a public meeting about the ban Monday night, May 13, at 6 p.m. at the Encinitas Community Center (1140 Oakcrest Park Drive).The ban is part of the City's bigger Climate Action Plan, which the City Council approved in January of 2018. It calls for a 41 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 when compared to 2012 baseline levels.The plan says removing emissions from gas-powered leaf blowers would remove 142 Metric Tons of CO2 by 2030. That's the equivalent of taking roughly 25 cars off the road.While it's not a huge improvement, people in Encinitas say every small step will help."I think they ought to be eliminated everywhere," says David Winkler, who goes to Encinitas to meet friends. "The less reliance on fossil fuels, the better.""People come from all over the world here, so we should make it as clean and beautiful as we can," says Encinitas resident Linda, who declined to give her last name. "Anything we can do to lessen pollution is always a good thing."Other North County cities already have bans in place. Solana Beach and Del Mar both prohibit the use of gas-powered leaf blowers.City leaders in Encinitas say their rule is different because it bases the ban on environmental concerns, rather than noise pollution.The ban only covers two-stroke leaf blowers. Other gas-powered tools like weed whackers and chain saws will still be allowed.If the ban is approved, it will take effect immediately for all city-run operations. After three months, any business licensed to operate in Encinitas will have to comply. ENCINITAS, Calif. -- No dancing allowed. Sounds a little like the movie, “Footloose” right? Well, it’s real — and it’s the law in the city of Encinitas, California.“We got in trouble for people dancing here,” said Brie Cardosa, owner of Mr. Peabody’s Bar and Grill. The restaurant was fined ,000 for allowing their patrons to dance while listening to live music.Cardonas' restaurant has been providing food and live music for more than a decade. She said they have never had any run-ins with the law until they recent fine from the Alcohol Beverage Control.“We didn’t realize we were doing anything wrong,” Cardosa said.The fine stemmed from a city law that makes it illegal to dance in Encinitas during evening hours.Encinitas Councilman Tony Kranz believes his predecessors created the law in 1986 to prevent several dance clubs from being built in the city, or to dissuade people from behaving lewdly at alcohol-serving establishments.“I think it’s just the result of cities trying to limit their liability," he said. "And make it an enjoyable experience for everybody that comes out."The crackdown took place after the city received an overwhelming number of complaints from a number of area bars. Many Peabody’s fans have taken a stand by signing an online petition to let them keep dancing.You can find the petition here. Cardosa said dancing to music is a natural reaction, and found it hard to force her patrons to remain still. “We just don’t want to get in trouble if we’re dancing, or if someone starts moving around,” Cardosa said. “We don’t want to tell them that they can’t dance. It’s such a difficult type thing to explain to someone.”Kranz agrees. “I’ve been there before. and I’ve seen some dancing. I might have even swayed to the music a couple of times there,” he said. “The (Alcohol Beverage Control) interprets their rules that if you sway to the music, you could be in violation of the rules. That is not what city council is interested in having happen.”Encinitas City staff have started work on a revision to the current, and outdated law. In the meantime, Cardosa is hoping the petition persuades the council to let them stay as is. Her other options are to turn in a “deemed approved ordinance” application to temporarily be approved or to submit the “entertainment establishment permit,” also known as the “cabaret permit.” This would allow Mr. Peabody’s to have “dancers“ inside their venue.But that doesn't really align either. “We don’t want to be a dance club. We don’t want to be a dance venue,” Cardosa said. “I hope to have the support of the city behind us, and just you know, move on.”Cardosa said she will continue to host live music at the restaurant several nights a week, without dancing. She is working with city staff to find the best way to legally run her business while making her patrons happy. 2912
