ALEXANDRIA, Ky. — One northern Kentucky family honored their lost wife and mother by paying it forward to brighten the morning of dozens of people.The Peters family celebrated what they called "Family Friday," where every Friday they put aside distractions and did something together."Our family began our Family Friday in the drive-thru at Dunkin'," 11-year-old Davis Peter said."Every Friday, especially when he was out of school, we would make sure we would enjoy time together as a family," Barry Peters, Davis' father, said. Then, in June, Laura Peters, Barry's wife and Davis' mom, died after going into cardiac arrest at 41 years old. "Since then we have learned to walk in a new normal," Barry said. Barry and Davis wanted to honor Laura, so they made a trip to Dunkin'.Laura "ran on Dunkin'," Davis said, getting coffee there at least four times a week. With that in mind, Davis and Barry did some math to figure out how much Laura would have spent at Dunkin' over six months."Since it's been six months, that would be four medium coffees a week at a piece for the last 26 weeks, equaling 8," Davis said. Barry and Davis then made a trip to Dunkin' with that money."I need you to take the 8; that's how much coffee she would have drank over the last six months," Davis said. "I need you to pay for everyone behind us until it runs out."Barry and Davis then watched from the parking lot as cars rolled up and ordered their morning cup of Joe."Every time somebody pulled up and we'd say, 'You're paid for,' everybody's mouth just fell," Amanda Jones, a shift leader at Dunkin', said. "Then when we told them why, what had happened, everybody was teary-eyed.""I don't remember one person who didn't honk their horn and be thankful," Davis said. A Wisconsin judge has ruled against a Trump campaign lawsuit that sought to overturn the results of the presidential election in the state.“Because the court is satisfied the rules and guidelines applied in each of the disputed areas are reasonable, and a correct interpretation of the underlying early absentee voting laws, the certification of the results of the 2020 Wisconsin presidential election, after the Dane County and Milwaukee County recounts, is affirmed," Judge Stephen Simane said in a ruling released Friday.Hearings were scheduled Thursday for the campaign's federal and state lawsuits that were an effort to invalidate thousands of ballots in both Dane County and Milwaukee County.The attempt to overturn ballots in Milwaukee County was dismissed Thursday afternoon.Prior to the decision, attorneys for Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers and the state elections commission said the cases are without merit and should be dismissed.The ruling clears the way for Wisconsin's 10 electoral college votes to go to Biden. About an hour north of Tampa, Florida is a plain field, surrounded by a fence. It may look like ordinary land, but the fenced-in area is a burial lot for bodies donated in the name of science.The area is known as a body farm, an outdoor research facility where scientists study how a body decomposes in hopes to use that research to better solve crimes.Erin Kimmerle, an associate processor at the University of South Florida, is in charge of the body farm in Land O’ Lakes, Florida.  Kimmerle and her team study the donated bodies to learn more on how bodies break down, both under the sun and underground.Abigail Kenney's husband, who was killed in a car crash, was the first body to be buried at the farm. For her, the place brings her comfort.“I know I might not be the norm, but I have been given such comfort and how everything happened," Kenney says of the research farm.By donating his body, Kenney says she feels her husband, who was a school principal, is continuing to be an educator even after his death.Thanks to the donated bodies, Kimmerle and her team have found just how fast temperature and humidity speed up decomposition. What takes years in a dry air climate can take weeks in areas like Florida.Researchers learn a valuable lesson about scavengers--how drastically they move bodies, something that could be key to a criminal investigation."The vultures will completely turn a body 180 degrees, separate the arms and legs into a sort of spread position, Kimmerle explains."It might look like somebody was dumped there in a haphazard way or maybe staged even."Kimmerle says she discovered a heavy bird sitting on a rib cage can even break bones and collapse a chest cavity.“The number of injuries can speak to how heinous and atrocious the crime is considered to be, which will determine whether or not it becomes a death penalty case," Kimmerle says.Kimmerle’s team recently solved a murder case. By using what they learned about how bodies decompose, they created a facial reconstruction image. Someone was able to recognize the victim as a woman named Jane Weaver. It was later determined Weaver’s boyfriend had fatally shot her before dumping her body."I mean, our lab has done over 350 cases for law enforcement," Kimmerle says.The Florida body farm is one of eight around the country. Each farm studies different climates--from high in the arid climate of western Colorado to strong humid heat in Florida—in hopes of helping to solve crimes and bring families closure."We have the strong belief that for every missing person, there's a family missing them,” Kimmerle says.And for Kenney, it's comforting to know there's more than her husband's memory that is living on."He's had so much impact on other people beyond his death," she says. 2777

He attempted to do what others who have had the coronavirus have been asked to do and give plasma.It turns out he was rejected.Cohen is prohibited from giving plasma because he is gay. He was told that gay men are unable to give blood due to concerns over HIV infection, despite him being HIV negative."They said, 'You can't do it,'" Cohen said on Tuesday’s ABC "The View." "I was hurt. I just thought well this is crazy, technology has come so far.“They're worried about HIV in blood," he added. "But I'm HIV negative. And you can find that out, and then you can test my blood a couple of times before putting it into a system."The FDA recently slightly relaxed its ban on gay men giving blood or plasma, stipulating that men who have had sex with other men are eligible to donate after three months of abstinence.The FDA says that it is possible that convalescent plasma contains antibodies to the coronavirus and might be effective against the infection. A woman crossing into the United States from Canada has been arrested following reports of a suspicious letter being sent to the White House.CNN and NBC News reported that an arrest had been made, per their sources.The arrest was made at the Peace Bridge in Buffalo, NY, Scripps station WKBW learned through a source.On Saturday, the FBI confirmed that it was joining the USPS and Secret Service in a joint investigation of a suspicious letter addressed to a government facility. Letters addressed to the White House are screened off site before reaching the complex.CNN reported that the letter contained ricin.According to the CDC, Ricin is a poison found naturally in castor beans.“If made into a partially purified material or refined into a terrorist or warfare agent, ricin could be used to expose people through the air, food, or water,” the CDC said, adding that there is no known antidote for ricin.The White House has been the target of ricin mailings in the past.
