MADISON, Wis. (AP) — President Donald Trump canceled a planned appearance in western Wisconsin amid calls from the city's mayor and the state's governor, both Democrats, that he not hold a rally amid a surge in coronavirus cases. The director of the La Crosse airport said the event was canceled due to a lease issue, not concerns over the coronavirus. Trump replaced the La Crosse rally with one in Janesville, located about 175 miles away, prompting authorities there to also ask the president to reconsider. Trump is also holding a rally Saturday in Green Bay. Both will be outside at airports. State health officials reported 2,887 newly confirmed cases on Thursday, a new daily record, along with 21 more deaths. 725
Many gamers have been frustrated by the lack of availability of PlayStation 5 units since its release earlier this month. On Black Friday, many stores had a handful of units for sale, and in response, people lined up for hours in hopes of scoring the coveted gaming console. The PlayStation 5 marked Sony’s newest generation console since the PlayStation 4 was released at the end of 2013. The PlayStation 5’s release coincides with Microsoft’s release this month of the XBOX Series X. The XBOX Series X has also had a limited supply. Some are using the initial scarcity of the console for profit.Bids on Ebay are showing PlayStation 5 consoles for selling for more than ,000. The console retails for 9.99.In a statement to gaming website gamesindustry.biz, Sony denied claims by Bloomberg that it was cutting production of PlayStation units. “While we do not release details related to manufacturing, the information provided by Bloomberg is false," the statement reads. "We have not changed the production number for PlayStation 5 since the start of mass production."The PlayStation 5 offers a complete redesign to PlayStation’s classic controller. It also delivers graphics that are akin to powerful, more expensive gaming computers. But some experts say if you’re unable to initially score a PS5 to not fret. The initial offering of games is slim, but with time, the number of games available for the PS5 platform will grow. 1438
Maryland-based vaccine developer, Novavax, has received .6 billion from the federal government to complete late-stage clinical development; set up large-scale manufacturing; and deliver 100 million doses of NVX?CoV2373, its COVID-19 vaccine candidate, as early as late 2020.This is the largest vaccine deal to date with the Trump administration as part of their Operation Warp Speed, which is focused on making a COVID-19 vaccine and treatments available as quickly as possible.Novavax has not brought any of their developed vaccines to market. According to information on their website, they have developed several vaccines for infectious diseases, however they are all in various stages of development or clinical trials. These include vaccines for the seasonal flu and RSV. Other vaccines created by Novavax are not actively being developed or studied at this time, including ones for Ebola, MERS, and SARS.According to a statement from Novavax, the agreement with the federal government includes the company demonstrating being able to rapidly get manufacturing and large-scale production of the vaccine going once approved. Novavax hopes to conduct their late-stage clinical study with 30,000 subjects in fall 2020.An early-stage clinical study took place in Australia in May on 130 participants. Study results are expected at the end of July.“Today’s .6 billion investment supports the Novavax candidate, depending on success in clinical trials, all the way through to manufacturing 100 million doses for the American people,” said U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar.Regeneron Pharmaceuticals has also received 0 million through Operation Warp Speed on Tuesday, to make and supply its COVID-19 vaccine candidate, REGN-COV2. Michael Cohen and his attorney met Wednesday with a group of state and federal law enforcement officials investigating various aspects of President Donald Trump's family business and charitable organization, according to people familiar with the meeting. The group, which included the federal prosecutors from the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York who charged Cohen in August and officials from the New York Attorney General's office, met at the Midtown New York City office of Cohen's attorney, Guy Petrillo, these people said.CNN observed Cohen leaving Petrillo's office building Wednesday afternoon. Assistant US Attorney Tom McKay, the lead prosecutor on the Cohen case, had entered the building earlier in the day.The purpose of the meeting wasn't immediately clear, but both offices are continuing to investigate cases that relate to Trump entities and with which Cohen had professional involvement.Representatives for both the attorney general's office and the US attorney's office declined to comment. Petrillo didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. The meeting comes as Cohen, Trump's former personal attorney, has spent hours huddling with prosecutors from the office of special counsel Robert Mueller. Cohen's cooperation with investigators could help reduce the sentence he's set to receive December 12 for the crimes to which he pleaded guilty in New York. Cohen has said privately a reduced sentence is not his motivation. In recent days, Cohen and Trump have traded public barbs, with Cohen touting his recent allegiance with the Democratic Party on social media and Trump saying Tuesday in an interview with the Associated Press that Cohen was "lying" when he indicated during his guilty plea, under oath, that Trump had directed him to break the law by instructing Cohen to make payments to silence two women who claimed affairs with Trump.Trump has denied those claims, and in the AP interview he described Cohen as "a PR person who did small legal work, very small legal work.""He wasn't in trouble for what he did for me; he was in trouble for what he did for other people," Trump said. "He represented me very little. It's a very low level. And what he was is also a public relations person."In response to Trump's interview comments, another attorney for Cohen, Lanny Davis, said on Twitter that Cohen "acknowledged and took responsibility for @realDonaldTrump @POTUS bad behavior. Trump calling anyone a #liar is a compliment!"In August, Cohen pleaded guilty in Manhattan federal court to tax evasion, making false statements to a bank and campaign finance violations involving so-called "hush money" payments two women who alleged sexual encounters with Trump: adult film star Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, and former Playboy model Karen McDougal.Federal prosecutors in New York began seeking to arrange a meeting with Cohen after his August plea, CNN has reported, and that office has been continuing to investigate matters related to Cohen's case, including possible campaign finance violations by others within the Trump Organization.Cohen has also been in contact with the New York state attorney general's office since his guilty plea, including shortly after his appearance in federal court, CNN has reported. The AG's office has a civil lawsuit against the Trump Foundation, and has been coordinating its investigation with the US attorney's office, CNN has reported. 3467
