President Donald Trump, after surveying the destruction wrought by wildfires in California, said Saturday that the devastation has not altered his opinion on climate change."No, no, I have a strong opinion. I want a great climate," Trump said when asked whether what he witnessed had changed his view."We're going to have that, and we are going to have forests that are very safe because we can't go through this," Trump continued during a briefing at a command center in Chico, California. "Every year we go through this. We're going to have safe forests, and that's happening as we speak."But later, on Air Force One alongside Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown and Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, who is also the state's governor-elect, Trump said that while he disagrees with the state leaders on the issue, their views are "maybe not as different as people think.""Is it happening? Things are changing," Trump said. "And I think, most importantly, we're doing things about. We're going to make it better. We're going to make it a lot better. And it's going to happen as quickly as it can possibly happen."Earlier Saturday, Trump said he thought there were "a lot of factors" involved when asked about the role of climate change in contributing to the fires."We have the management factor that I know Jerry has really been up on and very well, and Gavin is going to, we're going to be looking at that together," Trump said.Trump's remarks came after he was criticized last week for initially blaming California forest management for the destruction wrought by the fires, considered the deadliest and most destructive in California's history. Since the wildfires began, more than 70 people have died and more than 1,000 people remain missing."There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor," Trump wrote on Twitter last weekend. "Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!" he wrote in a tweet.In a separate tweet, Trump wrote: "With proper Forest Management, we can stop the devastation constantly going on in California. Get Smart!"Trump's tweets drew criticism from leaders of firefighters' organizations and others."His comments are reckless and insulting to the firefighters and people being affected," said Harold Schaitberger, president of the International Association of Fire Fighters.Brian K. President Donald Trump says he did not address reports from U.S. intelligence agencies that said Russia paid bounties to the Taliban in exchange for the deaths of American soldiers in a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin last week.Trump made the comments in an on-camera interview with Axios reporter Jonathan Swan.Trump said his July 23 phone call with Putin was a call "to discuss other things," particularly nuclear proliferation.The president also claimed that the report "never made it to his desk," even though several media outlets have spoken to administration officials that have said the report was included in a daily intelligence briefing in February.Trump also referred to the intelligence as "fake news," and added that "a lot of people are saying that it's a fake issue."When pressed on intelligence reports that Russia has supplied weapons to the Taliban, Trump seemed to justify the Russians' actions by citing the fact that the U.S. sold weapons to the Taliban when the group was fighting the Soviet Union decades ago. In an interview with Page Six, Ivana Trump said her ex-husband should instead enjoy his fortunes. “I’ll tell you something, I don’t think it’s necessary,” she told Page Six. “He has a good life and he has everything. Donald is going to be 74, 73 for the next [election] and maybe he should just go and play golf and enjoy his fortune."Ivana Trump was married to Donald from 1977 to 1992. The couple had three children: Eric, Donald Jr. and Ivanka. Despite being divorced for 26 years, Ivana remains in close contact with the President, saying they talk at least once a month. Prominent tech investor Steve Jurvetson is denying the misconduct allegations against him.In a lengthy Facebook post, Jurvetson said the reason for his departure from the venture capital firm he co-founded on Monday had nothing to do with "sexual predation" or "workplace harassment.""How does one respond to accusations so serious that being innocent is not a good enough defense?" he wrote. "Let me be clear: no such allegations are true."Jurvetson, 50, was a partner at prominent VC firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson. He is also a board member and investor at Tesla and SpaceX, but as of Monday, he's currently on leave.According to Jurvetson, he left the firm "because of interpersonal dynamics with my partners" and "stress."In October, DFJ said it became aware of "indirect and second-hand allegations" about Jurvetson.
