BEIJING, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Britain has opened a "golden era" of bilateral relations and a new chapter of China-West exchanges, said Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Describing the meeting as "productive," Xi said they have reached important agreement on many issues.
On that occasion, the international community should reaffirm the commitment to multilateralism, defend principles and purposes of the UN Charter, safeguard authority and role of the UN and make joint efforts to promote world peace and common development, Xi suggested.
"I think the next most visible things would be Chinese investment in British infrastructure" such as nuclear industry and high speed rail system, said Gerry Grimstone, chairman of Standard Life, one of the biggest British insurance group.
During their formal talks, he made a six-point proposal for the development of China-U.S. relations.
