SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Boulevard Fitness in University Heights is open for business, with a line of people wrapped around the building waiting to go inside to workout on Tuesday, even though they’re not supposed to be open.Last week, San Diego County Supervisors said the county would be cracking down on businesses that violate public health orders put into place due to the coronavirus pandemic.A gym owner in Ramona was recently charged with several misdemeanors for staying open for indoor workouts. The San Diego County District Attorney’s Office said Peter San Nicolas, owner of Ramona Fitness Center, faces five charges that each carry ,000 fines.However, at Boulevard Fitness, staff members told ABC 10News they’ve had visits from police telling them they should not be open, but nothing more.The gym on El Cajon Boulevard is limiting the number of people inside and increasing cleaning and other measures to try to limit the risk of potential virus exposure to gym members.A San Diego Police Department spokesperson said officers are responding to complaints about businesses that are open when they’re not supposed to be, but police are -- at this point -- only educating businesses that may be in violation of the health order and not physically forcing any shutdowns.San Nicolas is holding a rally in Ramona Tuesday night in hopes of getting the word out that small businesses, including gyms like his, are still trying desperately to survive -- even if, in some cases, it means facing charges to stay open. 1526

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- California roads have some of the worst drivers in the entire country, according to a new ranking.Finance website SmartAsset reports that California ties with Missouri to take third on the list for states with the worst drivers.In order to rank states, the site looked at the percentage of drivers with insurance, the number of DUIs per driver, the average number of deaths per miles driven and how often residents Google terms like traffic ticket or speeding ticket.California ranked 12th for DUIs per thousand drivers and 11th for percentage of uninsured drivers. The Golden State also ranked 32nd for number of people killed per 100 million miles driven.It may give some comfort to know that California wasn’t ranked first. WalletHub ranked states based on feedback from psychology, social work and child studies experts at several universities, and statistics from each region. States were given grades in categories including the cost of housing, child care, and unemployment. California ranked 19th overall. Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, North Dakota and Ohio topped the list. California's median home price as of November 2018 was 7,900, Zillow reported. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – At least 10 people were arrested during demonstrations in downtown San Diego Wednesday night that were sparked by the grand jury decision in the Breonna Taylor case.ABC 10News learned there were initially two separate protests planned in the downtown area. Eventually, the two groups joined together.Protesters marched through downtown chanting and holding signs demanding justice for Taylor. The demonstration made its way to San Diego Police Department headquarters on Broadway.Shortly after 10 p.m., SDPD tweeted that there were acts of violence and vandalism and declared the protest outside headquarters “an unlawful assembly.”According to the tweet, the crowd was ordered to disperse or face arrest. In response to acts of violence & vandalism, the protest in front of the SDPD Headquarters building (1401 Broadway) has now been declared an unlawful assembly.Demonstrators are ordered to immediately disperse.
